The original dongle was not only necessary (at the time) to exploit the machine via jig authentication code fail, it *unlocked* the machine and *added* features.

He's says there is a small similarity as they were both made to allow piracy. Even though TB's methods are ethically questionable. And I don't think the original JB creators had intended for a free solution to be found, I bet they were kicking them selves in the backside for not obfuscating the dongle properly. And why was a free solution found along with all the good stuff that followed? It happened because it allowed the running of unsigned code, plain and simple. The makers of TB realised this and needed to find a way to protect their business interests, so extreme DRM was the only option for them. So no Homebrew and a well obfuscated dongle was probably the best way to protect 'their work' .

Do not miss understand me, I do not like TB and do not own one or any DRM dongle for that matter. Personally having another PS3 with OFW is way better than TB. You get to play games without patching and you get PSN(SEN)

Spot on, especially about geo. Graf is the one possibly in a cell, meanwhile geo receives one threat from Sony and pisses his pants. Geo did good on the iPhone, but the ps3 was too much for him without help.
