Use this to check the lowest FW your PS3 supports.

1 - Copy the MinVerChk to your USB stick, the same way as if it was an firmware upgrade. 2 - Insert the USB stick into the PS3. 3 - Start a firmware update like normal from XMB (Don't worry, it will not update!) 4 - It will shortly fail and display the Firmware Base Value

If it shows 3.55 or lower than you will need E3 Flasher or Progskeet to do the downgrade.

Yes you need the eflasher if you buy a ps3 that has been "upgraded" past fw3.55...,but if you buy a newer one it will come with a higher ofw on it and/so you can't downgrade.

Yes maby take a look at the hard drive thats in it..... sometimes you can tell that way..with other info. look at the guide and see what harddrives are in the differant models...it might help,it might not.

K i found a 250gig one pre-owned manfactured date following that wiki link is December 2009 which means it was below 3.55 originally correct? So i just need to downgrade it im guessing, im omw to buy it in a couple hours so not sure what firmware its currently on, but it doesn't matter correct? as long as the OFW it had to begin with was below 3.55 right?

Nevermind I did my research and I can most definitely downgrade this one, now my question is i read about Progskeet Dual Nand setup or something rather, I'm no expert so this is just a guess but, does that mean I can run 2 firmware's? and basically switch back and forth?

And I'd like to know what's needed i've been searching and i found the progskeet website, and a place where its sold but im not sure what exactly I need, little confused on that part.
