Well I've tried one like it :/

Just tried it now and it cprrupted my the save :/ I got farther hex editing the save myself (first time too :D)

Now I'm not sure this is exactly right but from what I found this seems to be the case:

In a PS3 gamesave theres the PARAM.SFO..... in some cases the PARAM.PFD (also located in the save) has a tiny bit of data that "validates" the PARAM.SFO. The PARAM.PFD "updates" whenever the PARAM.SFO is changed. So by manually changing the PARAM.SFO since it no longer "matches" the part of the PARAM.PFD that validates it it ends up corrupt.

God if only I was good at this kind of stuff I could figure out how the bit of data in the PARAM.PFD creates it's little "validation" code so I could hex edit it myself to make it match T.T

Ok heres how it works...

The gamesaves I'm trying to use are for Yakuza 3 and Yakuza 4... Now when you put another users save on your PS3 it says it's from another user and you can use the saves, but you can't save while playing so any progress you make is gone when you quit playing.

To make the game think it's my save to avoid the this is another users save" message and be able to save when I play I used a save unlocker which edits the PARAM.SFO and swaps the IDs of your profile/psn id/console id on your own save of the game with the save your trying to use so it looks like the save was yours to begin with.

The problem with this is sometimes the PARaM.PDF "keeps track" of the PARAM.SFO which automatically updates itself whenever you save your game so if you change the PARAM.SFO and don't change the park of the PARAM.PFD that keeps track of it the save will become corrupt.

So in order to make the save valid I need to know how a PARAM.SFO gets translated into the little bit of data in the PARAM.PFD and swap it with whatever would match another PARAM.SFO
