I do see your point i was just trying to differentiate between hackers and reverse engineers they often aren't the same kind. You do have a point though i wasn't arguing that.

On the subject of graf_chokolo he is either in jail or has received a gag order. But the only thing about the gag order is if he already knew he was going to prison then a gag order wouldnt make any difference the guy is a revolutionist even after all the controversy he still spoke out and was very clear he would never step down.

Kmeaw i do not know ive only heared of his CFW saying that there was wutangrza's cfw he seemed to slip into the shadows too. However After Geohot and Youness did what they did it opened a lot of doors for people to do these kind of things on the fly without much coding experience maybe thats the case here.

i have brought up the point about having a group/thread and so on for coders,hackers, alot of times over different sites but with all the competion out there within the scene they would have to have some middle ground maybe a domain linked/endorsed by all the main sites in the scene just for the real guys to have time away from people who would hinder progress and be able to filter out the trolls this is just opinion though.

I would be the first to donate $500 out of my pocket , to a person who can crack the OFW / PS3 & produce a real CFW ,out of appreciation. It is not about me or about piracy or cause i want to use it or DL games ! It is because i want to see the PS3 scene actually move on like a normal modding / hack scene & be as good as the other scene's out there ! I luv the PS3 & always have ,it has been my fav since the ps1 ..

That is all i want to see is everyone be happy again ,the fighting/fakes/flaming/ stop ! I luv game mods & would be happy if we had another round at decrypting game files to mod offline ,for fun & more cool stuff apps , homebrew & more. It seems like many devs have stopped,left, or got tired of creating for the PS3 , i don't understand why. Either they are as old as me & just not interested anymore ? I just can not figure it out anymore what the hell has happened.?

This kind of depression would never happen if the "not corrupt" law would protect the people rights of ownership of devices to do with what they please. Instead we have the biggest corrupt corp = sony paying off lawyers to get there way ! Using there money to take down the little guy (with the money that we gave them !)

Remember sony would be nothing without us !

I think your $500 would be better spent seeing as Sony will pay anyone they can to put a stop to this.

Me personally i think sonys money is wasted too i mean look at the ps3 now its almost at the end of its life cycle most recent games have had to be "dumbed down" to be able to play on the console itself theres already talks of having accessories that boost the performance of these console but doubts that the ideas wont take off have hindered there progress.

Why not just let the scene evolve and open up the console to the world?
Piracy only amounts to 1 or 2% of the community as a whole im sure

Atari Teenage Riot's Alec Empire Donates Money From Sony Ad to Hacker Group Anonymous

Alec Empire, frontman of the German electropunk group Atari Teenage Riot and founder of the Digital Hardcore label, is now also a 21st century Robin Hood of sorts.

Empire has handed a large sum of money earned from Sony Entertainment off to FreeAnons, which is part of the pro-hacker Anonymous Solidarity Network. The group offers financial support to individuals facing legal trouble for alleged work with the Anonymous hacker group.

The money came from licensing Atari Teenage Riot's song "Black Flags" for use in a commercial for the PlayStation Vita handheld console. It's a particularly humorous move considering that Anonymous has in the past been in direct conflict with Sony.

Just to lock down the ps3 after we can already play 1000+ games & yeah it is getting close to the end ,so why the hell not leave it be open Firmware & leave the people enjoy what they luv.

WOOOO sony ,you actually stopped us from playing 100 new games => (Yeah right =>("Not") we have a alternative "TB" So they failed if they wanted to completely stop us from playing new games & piracy. Game play still lives on & so does "TB" + piracy ,if people did not buy the game ,there will still be games bought & downloaded no matter what . I dont know what sony thinks they accomplished besides ,blocking us from PSN & losing a few 100,000 Customers that would have bought SEN/PSN games/content + retail store bought games even on CFW !

I will say this ,after i seen how sony acted towards the scene i have not bought a brand new game in over 9 months. Now i wait & the games are brond new in box for $20 ! This i never did ,i bought about $4,500 new games in the first year i had the ps3 & now ,i had a change of heart & i dont even care about my OFW. Sony made it easy for me to make this decision. I was a valued customer before all this . To bad they dont see how much money they lose & they blame "PIRACY" Yeah Right !

I can understand that I have well over 3,500 in ps3 merchandise and will not spend another dollar on it. I am at an end and loosing interest fast, my last gift was Black ops bypass but with no new options I have one more Black ops gift to give and will in the next week or so. That will be it until we can run homebrew on 4.10 witch means eboots. I know you know what I'm talking about zombiekillah.

If any incentives is taking towards such an idea, I would support it. I support the idea of opensource, and as such believe the method found should be required to be released as open source, but.. I also support the idea of someone being rewarded for their work.. Even though they base their work on further developments on already free opensource knowledge and software(And thank good heavens, there has been such nice souls that has been willing to research in the PS3 and decided to share it. We would have been nowhere without graf; @euss NL, kingpin of the wikifamily, fail0verflow and even geohot to name a few..). Let's just face it, recognition and thanks for the work you do, isn't rewarding enough for everyone.. And I don't really think that can be blamed.

Another aspect... With all the hate in the scene(Although it seems as it has reduced in severity?), many could and would loose the motivation to continue, before reaching the goal.. Although they receive support also... Maybe it could be another catalyst, for wanting to reach the goal and keep going.
