I wanted to post before to thanks you Samson, in my case, it can be also really confuse, unclear or simply wrong so feel free to edit anything or delete.
For that purpose, and because i ll go to make more mess to one other wiki page, thanks in advance.

Also thanks you for your tips about TV column (creat folder game with one special ID name), it s helped me to interpreted one result with monster SFO (but can t found yet again) and to confirm the category on SFO isn t the only thing checked by PS3 to classify.

Sandungas,
For the remote play and tips to edit sfo , may be we can move the tips to SFO pages ( but the page is already big ) or correct what i added.
The fews games can boot (and so refresh the XMB) but still keep the first SFO (you can even delete the sfo from the game folder, the duplicate SFO is the one loaded as you explained) such as Child of Eden, (PS3 PSN) or Chrono Cross (PS1 PSN) for examples.
(as you explain to me by PM one possible reason)

Also the 4bythe for Attribut, can we display X0? (as i said, i already did too much mess and not sur if it s good idea or not)

Thanks a lot for the news entrances also.

I was taking a vacations to make the graphical interface of a ps3 related app for a friend, has been lot of hours with the design and in the other side served as an experiment area to improve RSX libraries in psl1ght
All will be released soon but dont ask me when?, what?, who?, etc...

Im saying this because somebody speculated if i quitted, but no, im not pissed enought
Is just that i "disconnected" for a few days from the "SFO brainstorming"

-------------------------------------
The idea to add sections at the bottom with "Tip & Tricks" is mostly because there are things that cant be placed easily inside other sections
Like patches... that depends of APP_VER, TARGET_APP_VER, and VERSION... is the combination of this 3 values that defines what kind of patch it is
And i saw severall ways to use them (that i could not verify myself)
Trying to add this information inside his separated sections can be a mess... maybe later, but by now we need an "area for speculation" to write freely without disturbing the rest

The way the ATTRIBUTE table has been rebuild indicates that some flags depends of others (e.g: all X1/X7 flags depends of X0)
I thought in colour them, but not sure if it will be needed

We must imagine a way to order this X explains, i keeped them ordered like you wrote (aligned from top to bottom in Game column in XMB)... maybe this ordering can be moved but im not sure where
************* [ - Post Merged - ] *************
Take a look at what i removed from "remote play" page
This second trick can be considered the same than the first one (when you boot it)

Maybe there was another reason to mess with resolution that i didnt get, undo my changes if needed, or separate this trick with resolutions if has another use

I ll test tomorow bout the setting display, but according to what i read, it was able to refresh sfo of games like Eden of Child (when i tested this game, the classic ftp didn t worked, and needed to use .pkg)
In this case, eden of child will not work on Japanse tv with sd resolution and can t boot with th original SFO.
But there are also others problematic SFO with console spoof required or just once installed, they don t use the SFO if not from .pkg (or this trick?)
You explained the possible reason about it fews week ago on PM.
I ll test with others games having this problem of refresh, (ps1 games) to see how it s working but it s like a kind of "forced refreshing".
I was too much testing around MINIS so it s good.

The other day i bought a HD tv... but all this time i was testing with a SD tv, and i never saw this problem with resolution

Maybe there are other ways to "refresh" the XMB (like erasing the database file inside the HDD to force the system to generate it again)... but this trick with resolution settings i think is not directly related

---------------------------
When playing with .SFO resolutions and problematic TV's i think first is needed to take a look at what modes your TV supports:
1. go to "display settings"... aun use the "auto configuration"... this will show you what modes are availables for you
2. edit RESOLUTION inside the .SFO accordingly

*when the game boots the bigger resolution wins

I wanted to post after having done full test around that setting display to reproduce what this trick does but may be in two days or so i ll have the time.
i did a little and it seems to don t really refresh the SFO or only the resolutions (but it s already great for fews games such Eden of child so peoples don t have to create pkg to make, like i did)
I ll report here (i got the same setting than it was decribed on psx scene, Japanese sd TV, so it just a question of test)
Around resolution, fews weeks/.months ago, i got homebrew (showtime or MultiMan, can t remenber for sure) changing it automatically the XMB (after using MutliMan or showtime XMB went to 16:9 to 4:3) and i wanted to reproduce it also.

About flag n7(and may be 8), i was thinking it s related to something similars as toogle resoltution or XMB pictures/videos in game but can it be only available for specific category/ ID/ combinated flags (like that list of reserved file.dat)?
(like only will work if it s under TV or VIDEO category and with torne?)
It s intrigued me that picture in xmb, it s not grey but you just can t open it (i tested fews things around without any results)

One thing also about data base, i noticed something a bit specific when i was playing with your blueray structure but need to make more test here also.

Other thing around PARAM.HIP, i tried to make it working under DG or (blueray structure) but i don t think it possible (because officially "PARAM.HIP, it should not be")

I was trying fews tests around XI but here also no luck untill now.

As usual, you can remove, correct, delete everything on the wiki, i really like what you did in this SFO page and will try to don t mess more (so please if anything seems not correct don t feel hesitations and delete it)
IN general i try to refrain myself to post but when i se something really nice... i like to show "oh i was waiting for this, i like, and there are also this cosmetic details " so it s more like a special thanks you.

In that matter, i posted on eboot.pbp talk to don t add more mess, even there are indirectly X2 as NEOGEO on PSP.

I keep in mind also about that trick part on the page, it s something really nice for peoples to start playing with SFO.

Thanks you again for all your wokr, there are a lot to play and hunt.

I will not ask about the graphical interface but i feel also really curious.

------------
parameter table for X category: i can do it but i ll post here in that case to don t mess the table
eboot.pbp talk: the structure file/folder is incomplete (because the edat algo? from the examples i used) but i may find other way to complete it. I wanted also to document the difference on SFO before/after FIX.

Where i should look on SFO to have that Software manual appear? (category as MN summon it but i think there are other data for it, like on psp it s not automatically to have it appear)

------
Photos in Game disable (it s just that line, making me confuse, if it was grey, it was clear it was suppose to don t work) may be not because of the free ram, but to avoid exploit code (as it was possible on old fw with .tiff but can t found back this info)
something indirectly: fw 3.00 Background audio playback is disabled in the [Internet Browser] and [Photo Gallery] when the audio upsampling feature is enabled.
(Sandungas, i m trying to figure out about this for fews reasons, one is because currently we can t really have any own text display in game, related to that pkg cheat for example, param.his don t display and...the only thing i can see is to use the comment line on information of picture and especially if we can get pciture in game i ll drop the manual software problem since it s pretty much the same)

I have no idea of this problem with this game, and never saw this message, the only thing i can say is i doubt a change in resolution can "refresh the XMB"

Interesting idea hmmm, flags that only works if the content is a specific CATEGORY... this happens with the "copy protection" flag in savedata (SD). The difference is savedata is not bootable, but yes its possible

Btw... im not sure exactly what is the database and where is the file that stores all the PARAM.SFO (but i saw it one day and could read the list with all them, is just i dont remember), i will look for it again and add it to the page for reference. I speculated if by erasing this file the console generates it again (in the next reboot) but im not 100% sure and i not going to test it, im just saying it if somebody has more info about this

Edit:
Ohh, and yes, with disc there are some weird errors, because sometimes the PARAM.SFO is stored in this "database" and other times not, also part of the structure (files and folders) is stored in HDD as a "temporall files" but are still there after rebooting
Edit 2:
Thinking in it... is because while making test there is no bootable content in the main icon... so its no so easy to "refresh the XMB"... good point, this needs an explain and is important, this is a new trick that i never taked care

Right, a raw PARAM.HIP cant be placed next to a PARAM.SFO inside a disc, i suppose the ps3 ignores it... but it can be placed inside a .PKG in one of the installable packages inside the disc (but is lot of work for what BahumatLord want to do, he has like hundreds of packages)

Edit:
Xi is not so easy that seems at first sight, for me is an "Extra Item" (or XML item) so it must be placed inside a subfolder, but there are not more kinds of contents that can be placed in a disc (this is sadly verifyed)
The only resting kind of content is the one inside HTMLDIR (this is verifyed that exist), but i dont know if in HDD or discs, i dont remember where i saw it, but probably was in this pastebin from jaicrab time ago so no more info that a HTML content "exist". I never saw an example of this sadly and i have no idea where to look at

But there are high chances that both are related (lets say... a HTMLDIR folder with a PARAM.SFO marked as XI and a INDEX.XML at his side) because there are the last ones resting (are the last folder and the last CATEGORY)

There is a lot of "tricks" we talked about here in the forum that are not explained in the wiki, at some point i began in thinking in this idea to add the "tips & tricks" section in the wiki because this reason

The sections that are actually inside this "tips & tricks" is just like a layout to keep expanding it, we can add there whatever thing that is usefull and related, also, this is very usefull for people that begins to making experiments, also the next section with links, tools, etc... all this needs lot of work

The size of the page is not huge by now, actually there are like other 20 pages bigger

I think is summoned by the psp emulator (Minis & PS1), i suppose when the ps3 sees this categories the content is booted by the PSP emulator, and the emulator has a speciall "XMB in game" menu when pressing PS button (same one than psp)
This menu simply is able to load a DOCUMENT.DAT if the file is in his "standard path" inside the game folder

To verify this, you can erase this file and his folder from the game and boot it... to see if the option to see the manual dissapears
If is still there, then is something other that is activating it (inside the ATTRIBUTE of the other PARAM.SFO inside EBOOT.PBP?)

The point is.... to be able to load this kind of manuals from a PS3 game (a PS3 game is not booted from the PSP emulator) i imagine 3 ways but i think none of them will work:

1. change the category of a PS3 game to MN or P1 and include one of this DOCUMENT.DAT in the standard path... like a PSP game

2. include one of this DOCUMENT.DAT mimic the standard path inside a PS3 game (keep the original ps3 category, dont change it)

3. change the firmware (e.g: game_category.sprx or something) to be able to load functions that are specific for different formats... in other words... PS3 format able to load DOCUMENT.DAT's

The first one probably will give a crash or will take you out of the game (because psp emulator cant manage a ps3 game)
The second one probably will be ignored (because the format and the path are not standard for a ps3 content)
The third one is even half crazy, because the function to load this file is inside the psp emulator... but you need to make it available to a ps3 game (when a ps3 game is running i suppose the psp emulator is "deactivated")... so lets say when running the game you need both working (PS3 and PSP emu)... not sure if this is possible but thinking in the emulators composed by modules in .sprx format... maybe can be tweaked

When erasing the folder CONTENT, psp emulator is still trying to find it and give you a message saying there are no software manual (from memory)

I changed for MN (1P is much more inconvenient for test and the software manual is within options so like you said, in this case the emulator)
within ps3 game-----the icon of software manual appear after pressing home, but seems not possible to load it (i tried fews possibles paths but may be missed on, or not correct software manual, since there are difference between the ones from minis, and the ones from ps1 classic, i ll try more)
At this point, i think it s the eboot.bin who don t have it (like some homebrews and probably olds games can t have remote play )
Or the FW block it.
So it s just specific to eboot.pbp: it ll take time (i have to set couples of tools on pc for that and learn to use them) but i can have it.
Still after, the problem of loading our custom monster eboot.bin/pbp but it s not anymore important for me at this point.

If it s also the FW: i don t know, but seems something similar to that no check on param.pfd with dongle, not impossible but far to be something i can do.

I believe there are something i miss on the SFO (because on psp, if i m correct, same category can have or not that software manual option)

And before going nuts around eboot.pbp, i wanted to be sure there not more clean and easy way about it.

The most easy way will be to have picture in game (i edited my previous message , may be the latest change didn t appear) but here also seems problematic.
(so i tested fews flags within AV but no luck yet)

That thing to get flags or others things working or not under different category, i suspect it can be even only with reserved id.

XI----not easy at all. i ll see it ..later

Thanks you for your answer

Next week, i ll have more time so i can help Bahamahut lord for pkg and save his time, i suggested him also to make special structure with theme.

I had a little talk with BobbyBlunt about this "PS2 DVD game discs" that can be installed in PS3 HDD
Without knowing the path in the internall HDD and without having an example of this files, is hard to decide how it works, but this conversation gives a few hints, and resume what i think, enjoy the wall of text

<+sandungas> http://www.ps3hax.net/showthread.php...477#post353477
<%Olga> Title: Someone has a "PS2 DVD game" can be installed in PS3 HDD ? (for ps3devwiki) - PS3Hax Network - Playstation 3 Hacks and Mods
<+sandungas> help ^
<+sandungas>
< @BobbyBlunt > no you are wrong
< @BobbyBlunt > install is the wrong word
< @BobbyBlunt > FF11 can be totally installed
< @BobbyBlunt > SOCOM games can use the HDD for DLC
<+sandungas> well, i see this installation as composed by 2 "parts"
<+sandungas> one is the creation of a install folder that can be managed by XMB
< @BobbyBlunt > all it does is emulate a PS2 HDD
<+sandungas> and the other is the copy of all the files from the disc to this "special partition"
< @BobbyBlunt > I used to play lots of SOCOM
<+sandungas> i mean... the official manual talks about this "rare" partition
< @BobbyBlunt > correct. It requires PS2 system data download from PSN and it only allows for the installation of DLC, except in the case of FF11 where a HDD is required for the game to even run
<+sandungas> how is emulated this ps2 HDD ?
< @BobbyBlunt > think along the same lines of VHD on a pc
<+sandungas> im thinking in this partitions
< @BobbyBlunt > like if I install SOCOM data it uses around 2 gig, even though the DLC is nowhere near that large
<+sandungas> because it seems every game creates his partition
< @BobbyBlunt > it isnt a partition, it is more like a VHD
<+sandungas> its inside the install folder ?
<+sandungas> in dev_hdd0/game/whatever ?
< @BobbyBlunt > what are you trying to accomplish with PS2 HDD files?
<+sandungas> im trying to catch this PARAM.SFO generated by the installer
< @BobbyBlunt > does it even create a param.sfo?
<+sandungas> it needs it to be managed by XMB
<+sandungas> this is why i think are separated
<+sandungas> the folder managed by XMB "relinks" to other path where the disc has been copyed (all the big files)
<+sandungas> well.. i think is this, but not sure
< @BobbyBlunt > it doesnt copy the disc
< @BobbyBlunt > I played lots of SOCOM and used the HDD feature for the map packs
< @BobbyBlunt > 2 gig partition/virtual hard drive for combined assault
<+sandungas> i saw a guy in the official ff xi forums saying that after the installation you dont need to insert the disc in the drive
< @BobbyBlunt > yes you do
< @BobbyBlunt > well in the case of SOCOM you do
< @BobbyBlunt > and I am pretty sure he was trolling
<+sandungas> maybe you had only the DLC packs installed ?
<+sandungas> i mean... not the main game
< @BobbyBlunt > you cant install the disc to HDD
< @BobbyBlunt > think about it
<+sandungas> i see no big problem
< @BobbyBlunt > I install SOCOM, but you want to play, so I let you borrow my copy to install
< @BobbyBlunt > even though with SOCOM that would get you banned from SOCOM
<+sandungas> ops, good point :D
< @BobbyBlunt > 2 of the same disc ID on SOCOM will lead to a ban
<+sandungas> yeah, even offline is not good for sony

<+sandungas> BobbyBlunt one question, this FF XI was installed in the internall ps3 hdd ?
<+sandungas> or they sold a externall device for this ?
< @BobbyBlunt > you mean PS2?
< @BobbyBlunt > it came with a 40 gig internal HDD for PS2
<+sandungas> ps2 game on ps3
< @BobbyBlunt > sadly if you had a slim PS2 you could not play it
<+sandungas> and you had some way to manage this "virtual partitions" ?
<+sandungas> erase... or look for details
< @BobbyBlunt > well on PS2 it wasnt virtual
< @BobbyBlunt > but yes you could manage them through the PS2 system menu
<+sandungas> all this time im refereing to ps3
< @BobbyBlunt > just like a memory card
< @BobbyBlunt > ahhhh
<+sandungas> i mean... there are just this 5 ps2 games discs
<+sandungas> that can be copyed to the internall hdd in a ps3
< @BobbyBlunt > they cant be copied to the HDD
<+sandungas> *only backward compatible ones of course
<+sandungas> ok, maybe also its used for DLC
<+sandungas> but FF XI shares this same installation, and seems to be "full"
< @BobbyBlunt > SOCOM uses the HDD space for map packs. FF11 does copy most of the game to the HDD but you still need the disc. You can manage these partitions/VHD files through the Game Data Utility
<+sandungas> ok, interesting
<+sandungas> and how do you know are named as "VHD" ? there is some indication of the name of this format in XMB ?
<+sandungas> because there is only other PS2 data that can be shown in the "Game Data Utility" (the PS2 system data itself)
<+sandungas> maybe all this shares the same category, hmmm
< @BobbyBlunt > they are marked as PS2 and have no icon if I remember correctly
< @BobbyBlunt > plus the name of the game is usually there as well
<+sandungas> ok, marked as ps2 (with the mini-grey icon i suppose)
<+sandungas> mm, and no icon, heheh, this has sense
<+sandungas> maybe they had the option to add it for the DLC, but not for this FF XI
< @BobbyBlunt > FF11 is the main reason this feature was even added
<+sandungas> ouch, but weird thing is.... i "tweaked" a SFO to be recognized as a "bootable" ps2 disc installation
<+sandungas> and it was out of "Game Data Utility"
<+sandungas> "PS2 classics" (from PSN) uses category "2P"... and this PS2 discs installations uses category "2G"... both out of "Game Data Utility" folder
<+sandungas> also there is the category "2D" for the "PS2 system data" (inside "Game Data Utility")
<+sandungas> and the one you are saying that can be "2D" or a new one, (inside "Game Data Utility")

Thanks you Sandungas and BobbyBlunt,

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PlaySta...ware#Version_2

March 13, 2008[77] FW 2.17 System changes
Support for PlayStation 2 games with optional and mandatory installs.

The first link go to an article from kotaku (trivial, not important about SFO):
http://kotaku.com/367346/new-ps3-fir...n-%5Bupdate%5D

------
Special day for olds ghosts in ps3: psx/ps2 games-pocket station
------
Page about pocketstation is less or more done, only fews things like ressources.
It was something since fews days i was wondering if there are any category for that but i don t think so. May be on other file but code seems to be obscured (like in savedata) and will need your help (but before trying to figure out )
I found the 2.70 changelog after you wrote your talk with Bobbyblunt (i was about p3t and the change on 2.80/3.00 and i ll test soon the boot logo disable on 2.80), it s really nice what you are doing (and peoples helping like him)

There is no icon or category for pocketstation (even knowing that pocketstation had some playable and bootable games that can be played standalone in the device)
But there are text refered to it inside one of the .xml inside one of the .rco's (i dont remember where i saw it, but it was the same day i was looking for the mini-grey icons, so probably is inside category_game.rco or other related .rco with the game column)

Probably the only thing can be done with a pocketstation is to tranfer the saved data to the virtuall "PS1 memory card" inside the PS3 HDD

So can be something like a feature of the PS1 emulator and managed the same way than "virtual memory cards"

Edit: i just saw the pockestation page, pretty nice
