I never received a response. It was definitely not an auto-response they setup because every incoming email they receive would be responded to with the same response; TB related or not. This means somebody read the email, and took the time out of their day to respond. If they received enough of the same email, and noticed any type of sales decline throughout the duration of the boycott, it may actually impact their decision on selling the device. However, I doubt both of these scenarios would happen in tandem with one another, but it didn't hurt to try... at least we know we have at least one retailers attention now.

The point of a boycott is to make it bad for business. Boycotting is vary similar to blackmail, we threaten give them less business, as well as bad publicity, and the risk of it growing into something more than an annoyance. It's not exactly the good guy approach, but attacking the resellers is one of the few points that can be attacked, especially if you want to fight back legally. So far though I believe that the boycott is ill prepared and won't change much. It doesn't have strong enough roots to make a sizable difference.

On another note, hellsing9 is right, the HDD erase post can't be trusted, but if you ask nice I'm sure they can put together a video for you.

If the HDD erase issue is real, youtube videos will do more damage. In that case if that's real i don't see why take a measure like that to prevent being hijacked by Jbking/etc. They are threatening the final user and that **** is bad. *If you use clones we will erase your HDD data*.

The only case reported (here) was that. But OP denied to put so solid proof about what happened.
So in this way or another they are already deep in the mud.

1) If users start complaining about HDD erase and post massive videos in youtube. Even if is not TB related but related some other dongle.
2) If users start making threads that have some valid points and argument proving that in fact TB is breaking *kinda privacy* law.

Assuming that users already read on TB site about HDD erase.
So far we got a *threat* message to the one who owns a TB or want to buy one or just a copy.
If the product fails or happens what they said, no need of boycott. Automatically the sites that are selling the dongle will be erase it from their catalogue afterall they don't want to have a black ship among some other cool products.

Maybe im wrong, don't know.

Once TB is gone, there is no need for discussion on the subject, so if you hate hearing about it, help get rid of it

If the HDD erasure part can be proven to be genuine, then any and all companies selling TB are culpable as long as they have been shown the same proof.

The underlying fact that running CFW (unless you created it yourself and have not shared it with anyone else) is illegal becomes mute as it is an offence (UK deffo, and I assume rest of world?) to sell something that has in it's design the ability to intentionally harm or destroy another connected piece of kit (they can blow your TB dongle to high heaven as long as it does not harm anything else in your set-up).
