Did u double check u soldered everything correctly? Or did u even realize this still needed to be done as any flasher?

I'm not even sure if I understood what you did..

You already have dumped your flash successfully? Did you verify your dump? If NORway isn't able to recognize your chip, I have doubts that your dump is correct.

What kind if NOR do you have?

Get the latest version from github (see first post) and read everything. Also check out the links provided.

I hope your dump is correct, since you've apparently already tried to write.. If it isn't, you're f*cked.

If it is correct and nothing else works, try this method: http://www.ps3hax.net/showthread.php...070#post284070

Little help please?

Heya.

For the past couple days, I have been trying to downgrade my PS3, but its giving me quite a challenge.

Here is the hardware I'm working with:
- PS3 Slim with a DYN-001 motherboard and a K8Q2815UQB for NOR chip;
- PS3 on 3.70;
- Teensy++ 2.0 with 3.3V voltage regulator;
- Teensy++ 2.0 flashed with (0.5b4) TRISTATE bugfix

I also used NORway 0.5b4.

And my "story" is...

I installed teensy just fine, I do have quite some skills with soldering, so no issues there. I checked, and double checked, and tripled checked all my soldering, and wiring, and all seemed fine.

After that I started following the guide, plugged in the USB into teensy, powered the PS3 and started doing dumps. Immediately the nor chip was identified and I was able to do several dumps.

Once I had six successful dumps, I turned the PS3 off, and started checking the integrity of the dumps. I went into ps3devwiki and followed the "check-list" to make sure my dumps were valid, and I found no issues with the dumps.
I also used Flowrebuilder to extract the dumps, and create a REV bin, and it did it just fine, no errors.
Lastly I also used Venix Downgrade to check for the dumps integrity, all green, no errors.

All the six dumps were identical, exactly the same file, same hash.
All the six dumps were successfully verified by norpatch.

Once I was confident I had a good dump I then started preparing my downgrade.bin.

I have tried many was do it, that included the manual way with HxD, using both downgrade patch v1 and v2; I also tried to use Transplante with Flowrebuilder; Tried to use Venix Downgrade aswell...Lets just say I tried many ways, and created many downgrade.bin files.

After that, it was time to write the prepared downgrade.bin.

And that is where my first problem occurred. When I tried to use the write command, it gave me an error saying "Command not supported for Samsung K8Q2815UQB".

Now, one of my questions is...is that normal? Am I doing it wrong?

Next, I tried once again to write the downgrade.bin, this time using the writewordubm command, and this time it flashed fine, no errors.

After the flash, I issued the release command, and turned off the PS3, unplugged teensy from the USB, and powered on the USB again, and it popped the press ps3 button screen.

Now, second question; exactly what "press ps3 button" screen are we talking about...because I can think of more then one screen...and I'm not 100% sure that the screen I was getting was the screen I should be getting.

After that screen, I turned off the PS3, and then attempted to put the PS3 into factory service mode, I was using my PSP to do so, but I was unsuccessfully. I'm not sure that's the correct way, or if it still works, etc, its just that on all the guides I read, that is all they specify...they simply say "put it in factory service mode".

On the many attempts to put the PS3 in factory service mode, the PSP was outputting the log correctly, according to what it should output on a successful attempt, but the PS3 still wouldn't go into factory service mode, instead, it simply booted again into the "press ps3 button" screen.

After many hours, several downgrade.bin files, several flashes, many many attempts to put the PS3 into factory service mode, I finally gave up. There is obviously something I'm doing wrong here, and I just run out of ideas...

Eventual I flashed back one of the original dumps, and the PS3 is now working again, with stock 3.70.

Does NORway support my nor chip? Is there a problem with the dumps? Or is it the downgrade.bin I'm creating? Am I flashing it wrong? Does the PSP no longer works to put the PS3 into factory service mode? Am I'm getting the wrong "press ps3 button" screen?

So many variables...so many that can go wrong, so very very tired...I need a nap.

If anyone could please give me a hand with this...I would be so grateful!

Thank you,
Dia.

Perfect. You're on a good way..

That's completely normal. As NORway says, the "write" command simply isn't supported for the Samsung K8Q, i.e. this particular writing mode is not implemented by Samsung.

There you go.. "writeword" would also do the job, but is a little slower.

Turn off your console (remove power cord). Plug it in again and press power and eject in a fast sequence. Console should beep five times (or so). It usually also powers off automatically after that. Sometimes it needs a couple of tries.

Actually this isn't a NORway / Teensy problem, since the hardware part is working pretty well (so this might be the wrong thread). But I'm glad to hear that the latest beta is working so flawlessly with the K8Q without any further modifications (most problematic chip ever).

But you might wanna check this out:

Let me know when you've downgraded successfully or have further questions.

It sounds like you are getting the right screen here.

For this I would actually recommend using the Teensy board again. Grab the custom psgrade judges uploaded on the first post of this thread. You should be able to put the Teensy into bootloader without pressing the button on the board using the command "NORway.py bootloader". Once you are in the bootloader for Teensy, flash the psgrade hex to the board.

Then plug the USB cable running from the still installed Teensy to the far right USB plug on the PS3 and use the power sequence Judges mentioned:

Once it powers off you can unplug the Teensy USB cable and re-power. At this point the PS3 should try to boot and then shut down. You can then insert your USB drive with your CFW and your LV2diag.self files into the far right USB and power on. As I mentioned in one of my previous posts my PS3 did not power down after the install process was done. I left it for about 15 minutes and then powered it down myself. Rebooted and the screen showed the XMB with the big red FSM warning in the lower right corner. I then put the second LV2diag.self file on the USB and booted to exit FSM. After that all was well.

Best of luck. I hope you get everything working.

One should mention that the bootloader command of course only works one way. Once you've flashed psgrade to teensy you'll need the button to activate bootloader mode to flash back norway.hex.

I had the same issue that console didn't power off after update. Never cared about it since it was working just fine. But actually this usually indicates that there was an update error (check the end of the log file created by lv2diag.self). If the log ends with "manufacturing updating FAILURE (0x8002f057)" right after updating BD firmware, you have 2 options to fix it: use a PS3UPDAT.PUP with noBD patch (e.g. Rogero 3.1), this will get rid of the update error. Or disconnect teensy's (or any other flasher's) control lines (or teensy/other flasher entirely) from console. This is also supposed to fix the update problem, since in rare cases on some consoles a connected flasher causes this. Although I've never tried that latter option myself.
