The TB market is huge.
The "ps3 Scene" sites make up about 10% of the TB buying audience.
The other 90% consists of the Warez scene.
People talking trash about TB here is not even going to put a dent in the TB business.

not tryna be a grammar nazi, but the name of the company is actually ligh-take...

i personally wouldn't do business with a company that sounds like " lie - take " because i had my identity stolen in 2010. so it's kinda funny that you say they have 1 month shipping, that's just unheard of

oh well. back to your regularly scheduled program of the anti-TB show

I had a issue yesterday with my hard drive. I do own a JB-king dongle. I was trying to make a game save work using PS3 Save Unlocker. And after making the new SFO i FTP to transfer over the game save. I didnt have the JB-King in at the time of the transfer. I turned off the PS3 and put the JB-King in and turned the PS3 back on. Everything seemed fine, i went to multiman and the system froze. I turned it off pretty fast after i figured out that it had froze. After turning it back on there was a message telling me that my HDD was corrupt. Freaked me out, i was thinking my external was also corrupt. Took my external to my PC and everything was there, thank god. So i went ahead and followed the PS3 directions to format the HDD. After the format the PS3 restarted and i could see my user name. Clicked on it and the PS3 started up like nothing happened. The only thing missing was my PSN games. All PSN games are gone.

Now i cant say for sure if it was the "JB-King" or even if it was the program "PS3 Save Unlocker". But something did happen far enough to want to format the internal hard drive. I have not touched it sense. I had been playing the game Top Gun: Hard Lock. I played it a couple of times over the last few days turning the PS3 off and on.

Lightake is safe to use, lots of people buy accessories from them, I even bought my ps3yes dongle from them back when the dongle was first required and there was no cfw yet, and not a drm device!

Even if there was proof that someone with an official TB had their hdd wiped, retailers will continue to sell these as retailers are just there to sell things to make a profit. TB has a huge market due to pirates having to just pay £60 for all the new games that have been released, so for them they are saving money. I think even if TB release a new dongle for "security reasons", these people will still buy that dongle as they'll save hundreds from the prated games they get.

So try as we may, we wont really get any retailer to stop selling a product which has a high demand.

There is no panic on my part, i got everything backed up. For my kids that is a different story, they are not liking that i wont let them play now. I am not connecting my external back to the PS3 until there is a fix. Its enough of a headache to reinstall the PSN games.

But i guess it could have been worse, my PS3 could have blown up or something.

BTW thst is a great GIF

about the "tb doesent actually erase hdd" bit.

did it say specifically on the tb2 website recently that if you use a tb clone then it would?

"when such a clone is detected, will activate one of several effects at random intervals, such as erasing the internal PS3 HDD"

seems pretty obvious to me.
