Unhappy Blank screen of doooom

Technically, I believe I've heard it called the Black Screen of Death, but now my Slim PS3 is suffering from it.

This PS3 is the CECH-2001B, and it came with a broken blu-ray drive when I got it from eBay. Since my other PS3 YLOD'd on me, I thought I would use the working BR drive to replace the broken one by following the guide I found on psx-scene. So, I took my e3 flasher from my YLOD PS3 and inserted it into this PS3. I also got a PS3 switch for the power cable so I wouldn't have to unplug and re-plug the cord again during the downgrade.

I got through the backup process fine (three bin files made, all in the right size), but the next time I turned the PS3 on, it just had a black screen, the lights on my system were on, but neither my controller nor the power button gave any response. Holding the power button doesn't ever give me a response beep at all. I tried holding it down for over 5 m,inutes, and got nothing. When I checked my backup with PS3 NOR Patcher in hopes for a restore, it said the bin file had no IFI0-tag at the offset 200. When I tried setting the six switches so all but the sixth one is down, I got the first, second and sixth of the eight led lights blinking at me.

I hope I'm not screwed here. I have no working backup according to that program. I don't want a brick.

Yes u can... u just can't use another board without remarying it. However, u can only remarry boards on 3.55 firmware at the moment. And as long as u have the original board it is as simple as swapping the new drive (without the board attached) to the broken console's blu ray drive board. As far as the black screen, sounds like u have a semi-brick. Or an update loop or such. Basically, u have no firmware installed. If u don't a have a good flash, i dunno.....HELP GUYS!

In case u have add...i'll explain it again. U don't have to remarry a board if u just swap the drive itself. U only have to remarry the board if u do NOT have the original board. In case u don't realize there is a motherboard on the blu ray disc drive. Kind of like a controller. This is what is married to the drive, not the ps3.... MAKE SENSE???

this is a know problem with the e3 flasher ..
its because there is not enough pressure on the gpu (rsx chip)..
did you put anything on the nor clip to push it down and to make it fit better on the nor ??
if so probably the rsx doesnt get enough pressure ..
try to push down the case of the ps with your hand on the right side ( where the 3 of ps3 is) while starting ...
if this helps .. reopen the ps3 and rescrew the metal mb case very tight ...

edit: jasonp is right .. if you use the same logic board there is no need to remarry .. only if your per console logic board is broken ...

My clip is being held down with scotch tape like it is in Khalkedon's tutorial. I was following it when I hit this BSOD with my PS3.

I've tried hold it like badhabit said to, but my PS3 still doesn't show me anything on the screen. I really hope I'm not screwed. It doesn't look like I could use a backup at all, even the messed up ones I have.
