you could use windows media player to stream straight from your PS3 if you set it up correctly, or just set your PC to share your media directories. they'll show up under the music and video categories when you browse them.

it won't play ALL file-types, but some of the main ones (mp3,mp4, wmv) should work just fine.

Never liked WMP. That why I used tversity.. Most of my videos are divx.ill play around and see what works best

As @riddleofthejynx says. I have all my comps on my network set up to share with my PS3, and it actually plays much more than the XBox from what I have found

pretty sure xvid/divx works, i just haven't been up on my media game truth be told.

use the directory method if you don't like WMP, but I do remember having to go in WMP to set up the file sharing. I could be wrong, but there is a way to do what you're trying to do.
