Are people so desperate for progress in the scene that they'll blindly ignore the facts purely because of how they've been presented. defyboy may have written with contempt and disrespect, arguably justified, but because zadow28 has maintained a silver tongue you and others side with him?

It doesn't take a genius to see what's happening. Keld Simonsen is the founder of the Danish UNIX User Group (dkuug), why on earth would an eboot contain his contact details? Just Google some of the other strings, you'll see that this is all one big joke. zadow28 is containing himself in his posts but crying tears of laughter all over his keyboard at the number of idiots following him.

You may say it's not hurting anyone, but look at the people who are wasting their time downloading things and trying it, checking the thread continuously for updates. Sure, the devil's not a bad guy, he'll smile at you and give you the world whilst persuading you to sign your soul away, but, whatever, he's not harming anyone, right?

@McHaggis so would you have people side with defyboy simply on his word? How many sided with mathieulh and look at how much he trolled the scene. He claimed something was true and people wasted a lot of time trying. How many things did he say were false when they could have been true?

I dont care who is right and who is wrong but simply saying "fake" or "bull****" or "ban him" is not enough to make the vast majority f the scene followers to understand why.

They either see
A. A guy putting down a troll
Or
B. A guy covering something up by silencing him.

Remember this scene is corrupt and nobody should trust anybody simply because they say so. Too many have a lot to lose by DRM being ended.

Tell a scene he's a fake and they ignore him for 5 minutes. Teach a scene why he's a fake and they ignore him for a lifetime. Not everyone has extensive knowledge about technicalities involved in this sort of field so you can't expect them to instantly understand what you may see as simple knowledge.

Nope, I had the good sense to follow up on what he said and come to my own conclusion based on my search results, as well as my own (admittedly basic, in this area) knowledge as a software developer.

To a certain extent, I agree with you and you're absolutely right that the scene is corrupt. That's the reason I visit this forum about once per month instead of most days like I used to. However, in this case, defyboy is right, at least about the eboot bin. It seems to be a random mashup of strings, many of which appear in this file (Keld Simonsen's contact details, month names, "nplurals=", etc) and absolutely none of it makes sense in the context of a PS3 eboot file.

The problem is, as you describe it, the lack of technical prowess and expertise on forums such as this one. It makes you easy prey for people like Mathieulh, Nodex and zadow28.
