Almost right except the last bit. If Sony get less money then they invest less money for the next game, and the next, and the next.

Simple financial down spiral, plus your example is based on Sony making a calculated guess at how well a game will sell and allotting a fixed development fee. This is not always the case and some game developers are actually paid more on a royalty based system (all things are to be honest) so either way the devs lose out. It's just a case of when.

Of course Sony and Microsoft and to a less extent Nintendo have the game devs by the b***s cause if Sony and Microsoft quit PS3 & Xbox the devs will go bankrupt but sony and microsoft will be fine with there other stuff.

just to clear somethings up, buying a ps3 ALONE will actually hurt sony, as they sell their console at a loss..they make their money off of LICENCING, so yeah, they actually do get money when you buy a game, not sure about used games though, not sure..

well i will like to tell u guys a thing.. if a cfw comes.. sony will give a new update to it.. reason being sony is hiring these devs for a awesome paycheck every month.. and do u guys have an idea that sony has created a security system and also has its patient which will be applied in coming ps series console.. i m not saying ps3 but chances are for ps4..

oh seriously.. sony sells a console on a good profit.. y do u think Microsoft is allowing their consoles to get hacked.. coz dey earn a good amount of profit...
sony screwed hackers in court.. coz they get a percent of profit on the discs sold, and 1 thing more.. sony made a declaration that they are making one of the safest beast in the consoles .. thats y they are trying their best to buy some of the best world devs for making their system so secure that no 1 can breach their(console) security !!

The PS3 and Xbox consoles have taught user and company the same thing though, being able to hack it sells more consoles and that then means more games sold.

XBox sales and XBox gane sales walked all over PS3 for ages, then the PS3 was hacked and the PS3 came back up, but now it is back down in the dumps.

Pity Sony pay no attention though lol. I think they pay too much attention to the small % of pirated games and not that piracy actually seems to sell more consoles nowadays and that means a bigger overall profit all round.

Nope, Xbox 360 and PS3(s) make Microsoft/Sony lose money as they are way too cheap. Especially PS3 Phats. Xbox gets some of the money from Xbox Live though. PS3 Slims have very special hardware and in a very small size so they are very expensive, except they are newer and are sold for more, PS3 Phats are the proper money loss as they are cheap and have very good hardware inside.

Well i really dont believe that. They can tell us whatever they want. And people can do teardowns to figure out how much each device costs to make but these companies gotta get there parts cheaper then you think cause they buy so much.

You can build a monster pc for 500-600 dollars that walks all ovrr PS3 and thats buying everything at consumer prices. At wholesale it probably be half. Then if your sony and have all kinds of hook ups through all the electronics you make its probably less then wholesale.

For instance a 200 dollar medicine costs 2 dollars in cuba and there makin money on that 2 dollars.

well u must be kidding me !!
all the money is first spent on developing hardware.. and then it is recovered..
xbox 360 has sold 65.8 million pcs. so far and had recovered their cost and had made enough profit.. manufacturing cost is not that much after the main process of developing processor has been done and designed has been finalized
