I downgraded my ps3 with a Progskeet and while in service mode with a Ps3Key I installed Rogero CFW v3. I then installed Rogero manager but all I get is a black screen when I try to run it. I thought that it might be Rogero so I installed Multiman but get the same result.

While researching the problem I came across a site that said I need to reinstall OFW 3.55 twice while in service mode and then CFW from the recovery after exiting service mode what he called reFSM.

When I was installing OFW for the second time the log had some errors near the end. I tried it a couple times but got the same thing every time. I then tried installing Rogero 3 through recovery anyway but got an error (I can't remember the number but it said something about the data being corrupted?). I then installed it successfully from XMB on OFW.

Rogero still comes up with the same black screen as before and I haven’t tried Multiman.

My ps3 is a 160gb slim CECH-2502A. The blu ray drive wouldn’t take or eject disk before the downgrade due to a suspected broken ribbon cable (the one that connects the tray board to the motherboard). Speaking of that ribbon cable does anyone by any chance know where I can buy one of them?

I have searched around but couldn’t find anything useful so I would be very grateful for any help anyone has to offer.

Thanks for the reply but that link doesnt really help. I know how to jailbreak what i really need to know is why Rogero manager or multiman wont run at all.

You still have to run LVL2 before running the manager Rogero or Multiman. @Mishka

I didn't know I had to run lv2 patcher before hand. Is that just because I'm using Rogero? Or do i just need it for backup managers to run?

I'm not at my ps3 right now so I'll try it when I can. Plus can that ribbon cable I described cause any problems if it is not working?

I also saw just then that apperantly Rogero manager 8.5 and Multiman 4.02 have Lv2 patcher inbuilt? Do I still need to run it before I use one of them? And I can't seem to find that specific ribbon cable anywhere. It's the skinny one with only 8 connections.

@Mishka with either of the two you have to run lv2 patcher before hand in order to run in your case.

Regarding the ribbon cable, maybe i cannot be certain. First try what i tell you and report back

Sorry for taking so long I somehow bricked my ps3 when I got home. I reflashed my dump with my progskeet so it's all working again now. It is now on Kmeaw 3.55 with the bd bypass. I tried to run lv2 patcher v9 but it does the same as multiman or rogero all I get is a black screen.

I don't think I will be able to buy the specific ribbon that I need so I think I'll be buying a complete new drive. I'm pretty sure I'm having problems running homebrew because of the drive but if you have any other suggestions I'd be happy to give it a shot.

You bricked and you are now on CFW. Well it's something.
Maybe trying buying some new drive like you said, but somehow it's more expensive that buy a new PS3 (i think).

I don't think that the drive is the problem running the homebrew. I will check something and will back to you @Mishka

I'm not sure how it bricked anyway I was on OFW 3.55 and tried to install Kmeaw over the top to start fresh and then it wouldn't boot. After a few seconds it would turn off with no light on at all. At least I had my progskeet handy and a backup off my dump. Thanks for all your help and time trying to help me.

I will check back late then to see if you found anything.

The only reason I think it's due to the drive is because when I was researching this problem I found a few post where it turned out to be because they either had a defective logic board on their drive or they had no drive at all.

Found this :

kmeaw have the install package menu+app_home menu. though in this case i think you dont actually have to update the firmware , just try the rogero backup manager and get it to fix the permissions , seems that is what is causing the black screens ( atleast it seemed like that for me) edit: its definatly the permission thing that was causing my black screens , games that i have fixed permissions with rogero now works in multiman also see that multiman have a permission fix for PL3 payload so this is proabably a common error

I don't think it's an issue with the logic.
