Anyone with a DexDrive

Hey.

Would anyone either owning a custom PSP or a DexDrive help me out by converting a .GME PSX save file to a .PSV file so that the PS3 will recognize the file? I've tried on the official PS3 boards with no luck, and I'd figured this board may be of more help. I've read through chaotictails' tutorial and there doesn't seem to be a way for me to do this without the tools I've mentioned before.

http://www.ps3hax.net/showthread.php?t=10468 - The guide can be found here

http://www.gamefaqs.com/ps/197349-fi...stling-g/saves - ...and here's the save file I would like converted (anyone would be fine)

Thank you for anyone that attempts this and if there's an easier way just let know.

I have no idea if this will work but do any PC emulators support Dexdrive that could open GME and save it back out as a PSV?

If not: I also found this: http://moberg-dybdal.dk/psxge/

Convert game saves between formats (DexDrive, X-Plorer/X-Ploder, Action Replay + other cartridges, PlaySaver, Virtual Game Station, PSEmuPro, Bleem!... Everything you can get your hands on!).
Convert game saves between regions (Europe, USA, Japan).
Again I have no idea, I'm just trying to help.

I really wish it was that simple but it appears that there is no converters that have the ability to convert to .PSV. I've also tried that link with no success. Thanks you for replying though!

Does it strictly have to be .psv? memcardrex 1.5 converts from and to:

ePSXe/PSEmu Pro Memory Card(*.mcr)
DexDrive Memory Card(*.gme)
pSX Memory Card(*.bin)
Bleem! Memory Card(*.mcd)
VGS Memory Card(*.mem, *.vgs)
PSX PSP Memory Card(*.vmp)
PSXGame Edit Memory Card(*.mc)
DataDeck Memory Card(*.ddf)
WinPSM Memory Card(*.ps)
Smart Link Memory Card(*.psm)
MCExplorer(*.mci)

is *.bin anyuse?

I don't know if i can link to a year old tool but i found it on media fire very easily.

EDIT: the gme u linked to says "file not allowed from outside blah blah blah" aka it cant be downloaded from that link.

EDIT 2: infos:
A .gme file is a memory card, and a .psv file is a savestate. Those are two completely different types of files. A .psv savestate is simply a RAM dump at the exact moment of saving, whereas a memory card is selective, ordered data (containing different information, depending on the game). The only way I could imagine converting between the two would be if somebody wrote a specific utility that could do the conversions, and it'd only work for that game (and may not even be possible then).
Sounds to me more likely you could load a virtual memorycard (.GME)via PC emu, then create a save state and maybe simply rename/convert it (to .PSV) that's basically what the PSP method is doing: creating a snapshot savestate and not a complete memory card.

EDIT 3: MOAR info for you:

The way I do it is this: (from .mcr to the RAW file that the PS3 reads)

1. (a) Use PSX Game Edit 1.60 to load the .mcr file.
(b) Select the file you want to save. If you have plenty, do these steps for each file.
(c) Go to File-->Save Single Game Save (enter a name of your choice and save).
2. (a) Use PSX Raw Converter: Drag and drop the Single Game Save file you just created (.mcs) onto the PSX Raw Converter exe icon.
(b) A RAW file would now be created at the location of the .mcs file. It should have a name starting with BASLUS475607146 or something weird like that.
3. Copy the RAW file to your USB drive in the proper folder where PSone saves are located. I can't remember the folder path, just search it on the net.
4. Start your PS3, go to Memory card Utility and copy the RAW save file to the PSX Virtual memory card.

Now that should work. It works for me. If you need the 2 software above, just search it up.

I have the ability to:
> convert from RAW PSone saves to PS2 saves.
> convert from PS2 saves to RAW PSone saves.
> convert from RAW PSone saves to any MemCard file type e.g. .gme, .mcs, .mcr, .mc, etc.
> animate the PSone save icon
> create a PS2 icon

All the conversions can be done backwards as well. e.g. from PS3 PSX save to PSone save etc.

Simply put, PSV is unnecessary for PSone file transfer as my way works perfectly.
Iv'e noticed memcardrex has IMPORT .psv ability but without a gme to test I cannot see if it can load the GME and then EXPORT as psv.

Hope that helps?

FINAL EDIT: Just found a tool called DEX2RAW
Description: Dex2Raw is a simple utility to convert Dex Drive saves into raw PS1 saves that can be transferred with uLaunchElf.
Version: 1.1 Filesize: 325.88 Kb
OpenPGP signature: dex2raw11.zip.sig
SHA1 checksum: FD24729852C9F1EC90648E90E7372A6AA090C32E
Added on: 28-Oct-2007 Downloads: 2342 Rating: 10.0 (1 Vote)
Am I helping yet?

I haven't tried .BIN. I will have to give it a try. I've also replaced the save link in the first post.

I think we are getting somewhere now. I used the DEX2RAW program and it spat out some files with some long filenames. All I need to know now is what to do with them. They didn't work when I just threw them in the 'PS3-Export-PSV' location.

Tested the fire pro save with memcardrex 1.5: opened the .gme clicked the fire pro save (the gme contained several different games) exported the fire pro save was given the option to export as raw.
let me know if it works out for you

I too have now managed to get the RAW file, but I'm not sure how to place it on my USB. The PS3 still isn't reading it.

the guide said

I dont have any PSX games so I cant test this bit out.

Perhaps if you copy an existing save off of your ps3 from your virtual ps1 memory card on to a usb (to get the directory layout), put it in your PC and simply swap it out with the modded one (if the ps3 creates the game name folder i.e. usb:/PSonesaves/XXX123456/XXX123456.psv then change the folder name to be relevant too).

I've tried all that with no success. I'm guess I'm going to give up and wait until someone releases a .psv file of their own. Thanks you for your help, buddy.

Awwww man, don't give up.

Out of interest what is the save path /directory structure for virtual PSone games when copied off the PS3?
