PS3 Slim shuts down after 30 seconds
Greetings, I'm new here so don't kill me right from the start :D
I'm working at a small hardware store and a few days ago I recieved a PS3 Slim for repair, the owner said it's dead, but I never give up on electronics. The situation is next: When it came, I plugged it into the power socket and TV via HDMI cable and turned it on. The PS3 showed the infamous red screen of death, shut down after few seconds of use and had the blinking red light. After disassembling it, changing the thermal paste and doing the "I don't know what i'm doing stuff" on it the blinking red light disappeared. Now the console turns on and shuts down after 25-30 seconds. - It shows no signal on the hdmi or av output. - You can eject discs and put them in the blu-ray drive normaly, the eject button works fine. - When i do the recovery mode trick with holding down the power button, it acts normal (first the 1 beep + shut down and then the 1+2 beeps after which the recovery mode appears (at least on a fat, or is this the video reset signal on the slim?) When it enters "recovery" it still sends no signal - The controller won't sinc with the console via cable. First I thought it was the power supply, but I changed that with another one (the original one was a APS-250 MB and the second one was a EADP-220BP so I don't know if the console is compatible with the second one or does that not matter?) Are there any solutions to this? Is it a hardware fault or did the guy who brought it in brick it somehow? Anyway i'd like to get it fixed. It has no signs of damage on it, just a little dust which is perfecly normal. The model is CECH-2004A Sorry for the long post, but I like things detailed. EDIT: Just measured the time, it takes 20 seconds to shut down. Last edited by Shadowstrike; 04-18-2012 at 05:57 AM. |

to be clear, you reflowed it? if you did, then you can either give it another try, cause chances are that due to a bad reflow the rsx detached more than before, or have it reballed, but i sincerely can't think of anything...

Back to the subject. What would be the reflow times for a PS3 slim? I have another one at work with a YLOD and it would be great if that one could be repaired to. Thx in advance. |

slim or fat is quite the same. If you want a truly lasting resort you should use reballing, reflowing does not last |
