we can stay on 3.55 with all what we need playing games(maybe >3.55 soon), homebrew and linux....
I would say, the biggest problem isn't that we can't run the new games... I agree with you that no matter what games come(most likely..), I would still stay on 3.55... And if I get desperate enough, I could always buy a TB.

The biggest problem is imo that new PS3's and newcomers to the scene, can't have their PS3's hacked, so not everyone can have access to the homebrew out there.

I have not yet seen a purely hardware method of dumping memory on the PS3, the XDR bus is simply too fast and complex to dump externally with tools available to the average hacker.

An ideal hybrid method would be to keep PS3 ram alive during a reset, boot into a very skimmed down firmware where we can dump new contents from.

Of course, all we really need is the lv0 key.

How about this? From PsDev's Twitter.

For ECDSA

A basic 64 bit key depth would require a deep blue supercomputer equivalent machine with 1.3 human weeks at leisure. And i'm prettttty sure the industry standard is 128 bit atleast, with 512 bit being a fab.

i am not saying kakarato is fake our something... but dumping keys in physical memory is not that easy.. may be he can do that..
or may be he can modify the firmware which can create a copy of the keys side by side..
let c.. what all he can do !!
Dear dumb user having no idea what he was talking about.
He didn't say it would take that long to DUMP the keys, but to BRUTEFORCE.
Sincirely, everyone pissed at people making OMGNOCFW posts.

well with the help of cfw i played online first time in my life with pirated games
i liked it, when cfw was over i missed the online thing
so i bought a brand new ps3 with 5 originals and started playing the originals now i have over 30 original games.
i think cfw does profit for sony
it will be better for them to boost sales

People are getting new PS3s all the time, another reason to get a higher CFW for users would be for the people who aren't able to go that low of a firmware and are stuck on 3.60+.

You assume someone trusted finds the keys. And it isn't that easy/wanted to happen by 'some' developers (i wake drama don't i) around.

This scene is so dead that we have better chances for a PS4 scene.

then what?
so the same noobs can flame at the devs who are crazy enough to take a look at the ps4?

I don't think there will be alot of devs willing to take a look at the ps4 if the drama at this scene is epic high already
