Progskeet requirements?

Hi everyone, I'm new to this site so please be kind if I get it wrong by posting in the wrong place etc.

I currently have 2 PS3's thaat have OFW 4.11 on them. I had my own slim which used to be CFW 3.55 which by mistake I upgraded to OFW 4.11 thinking it was the new CFW, I know what you're all thinking... Damage is done now.

I also have the old FAT PS3 which I bought yesterday as it was quite cheap thinking it might have some old firmware on it but that has also been updated to 4.11, so now I have 2 PS3's which need downgrading.

My question is this, I'm looking to buy the Progskeet v1.1 (Crystal Blue) available for £46.95 (anywhere cheaper please let me know) as I can't afford the E3 and also want something that will do both chipsets, I'm hoping that there are others on here who have already used it know the in's and out's requirement wise for downgrading a PS3.

I used to chip PS1's about 12 years ago but moved on and did something else, I've since aquired an interest in PS3 modding again so I'm looking for a solution I can use over and over again.

What do I need for the Progskeet? I've read somewhere that you need to program this with some Infectus board or have I missed something? I was hoping is was something I could just program via the PC/USB and solder onto the PS3 and flash it etc so that CFW can then be installed.

I may also want to buy the add on's for the Progskeet later on and upgrade to the solderless solution when the funds allow.

Thanks in advance...

So it's seems I have to buy the Injectus programmer (£14.99) in order to program the Progskeet with the software I need from their website and then connect the Progskeet to the PS3 to dump and flash it.

Thanks for the info

Yes, but keep in mind you have to solder and even you have a similar solderless kit for progskeet. (Like E3).

I don't have a problem with soldering circuit boards, been doing it for the last 33 years. I did look at the E3 for but for now it's more expensive and has it's limitations over Progskeet, correct me if I'm wrong.

Yes, but if he has early phat then he would have backwards compatilibity (to OP - fat ps3 with both ps3 and ps2 guts, so you can play ps2 ps1 and ps3 games with things like cobra USB dongle), but then E3 would be no better than progskeet (atleast not until they make NAND clip(s) ). Other than that i agree, E3 is the most easy way of downgrading NOR ps3's.
To OP:NOR/NAND are just flashes, E3 with clip only supports NOR so far, so no downgrading for phat models with it, unless you want to solder it up, like you have to with progskeet.

By the way. What is your model of PHAT and SLIM versions? (CECH<rest of modelname) and date code?
Here is nice info about ability to downgrade (for new slims) and backward compatilibity (for phats) http://www.ps3devwiki.com/wiki/SKU_Models.

Yes E3 flasher is more user friendly, instead with progskeet you have wider options to do.
So if you know how to solder = Progkseet. @steptoe

Not sure of the slim as I haven't had the chance to have a proper look yet but the FAT is CECHC03, I presume the 03 means 2003? The slim was bought around 2008/9 and was preinstalled with OFW 3.40/1

Thanks, Hellsing.

It's seems then that the FAT model is 2007 (why did I think 2003? doh) and my slim is 2010 which I guess is right as I'm thinking now we may have bought it for xmas 2010 and not 2008/9 as previously thought. Thanks again for the info
