I've been looking for a Dual Boot tut but they require the A / Sbe connection.
The Sbe point on my e3 clip came off, so i can't solder a wire to Point A. I have tristate soldered to Sbce though.

Can someone appoint me to the guide for flash fun dual boot?

Thanks for your help. I feel like a noob not being able to find a guide.

I assume you have a phat ps3... Cuz slim doesnt require soldering for dual boot... Sell it cfw and get a slim

It is a ps3 slim 160gb (CECH 2501a)

since it doesn't require soldering how do I do dual boot ofw and cfw. I don't want to do the "fast" dual boot. i want to do the "half" dual boot. whichever doesn't require the soldering of a / sbce on the nor clip.

What I know is that you first need to update your e3 flasher with a sd card with a the latest update ( for dual boot ). Shut off your ps3 with 3.55cfw, take out the hdd from the station and on the front of the e3 flasher ( with lights and stuff on ) and flick the second "button" from CFW to OFW ( do not turn on ps3 yet ) and now insert the hdd with 4.11 ofw and turn the ps3 on. That should work

That way is fast dual boot, and requires soldering 2 wires and cutting trace between point a + b.

To half dual boot,
Update to 4.11, take out hdd and label OFW.
Insert a different hdd, install firmware when asked on boot.
Downgrade your ps3 with one of the methods.
Make error free backups before and after downgrade. (4.11 + 3.55)
After downgrade remove hdd and label CFW.

Now to dual boot you flash your 4.11 backup with flash fun mode (switch 1 up 2-6 down) and insert the OFW hdd.
To go back to 3.55 flash your 3.55 backup and insert CFW hdd.

So let me get this straight. I dont need to solder on a PS3 Slim to get Half-Boot working. And now that 4.40 OFW and CFW. Can i dual boot/half-dual-boot both?

Correct. You only need to solder the "A-point" if you are looking for FAST DUAL BOOT. What you are doing is called "DUAL BOOT"

Thanks alot i really do appreciate it. I just want to clear it up for myself. I looked at another post of yours relating to half booting and it said that i would half to use flash fun mode (1st switch up and the rest down). Is this the same thing as what you posted above. I've been doing research on this for a good 3 weeks non-stop. Just got my E3 flasher limited today. So i guess you can call me a noob. lol. Anyways, yeah thanks for all your help so far, i didn't think i'd get a reply from such an old post.

To my current knowledge:
Update the E3 Flasher itself (Samsung or just use the latest?)
Backup the OFW (And verify/check)(Nor Validator)
Patch the backup.(Nor and Nand Auto Patcher)
Remove hdd labeled OFW.
Insert CFW Labeled Hard drive.
Install 4.40 OFW
Flash the patched Backup of OFW
Downgrade without FSM (Rogero 4.40 v1.02)
Backup CFW

And now to boot back into OFW just flash the OFW file (With the CFW HDD still connected?) Shut down PS3 and Replace HDD with OFW labeled HDD.

Vice Versa for booting into CFW.

Please correct me if i'm wrong. And if you can tell me the right switches to put that would be great.

Switch 1 up and the rest down, and all switches down, do the same function. It will flash the bkpps3.bin from the sd card to the Nor chip.

When you solder a wire from SBE point on e3 ribbon, to the nor tristate point on the motherboard: It makes it so when the first switch is up, it will halt the Nor. Which is not needed, unless you are recovering from a brick.

So it doesn't matter if you have 1st switch up and rest down, or all down. Because without that wire soldered, the first switch does nothing.

And yes, while you are booted to CFW, with CFW hard drive. Flash OFW dump. Then turn off PS3, replace CFW hdd, with OFW hdd and then turn on the PS3. And vice versa.

Just remember to boot the PS3, with the correct hdd.

MOST IMPORTANT!!! Be 110% your backup dumps are VALID, before doing any flashing.

You can also use BwE's Nor Validator to patch the dump. Just choose patch e3 style for 4.40. I have been thinking of adding that to my guide, but haven't yet.
