[HELP] Installing Debian (manual)

Installing Debian through petitboot right now through the guide:
http://wiki.gitbrew.org/wikibrew/PS3:Linux#Debian

Struggling for 45 mins on Mounting Partitions part. The guide sucks, its not newbie friendly and assumes your above average in linux command knowledge.

How do I get through this step? What EXACTLY do I type in each line?

I am one of the most linux illiterate ****s out here.

Help appreciated, back to struggling now....

Try Red Ribbon RC5, it's based on Debian IIRC.. There's a tute on their page, very easy to set up!

I'd try help with your mounting problem, but I haven't been through that process in quite a while.

I think you don't understand what is below step 10?

You have to edit (with Vi or another editor) the fstab file in the /etc directory and add the info below step 10 to it...

But like @Mistawes says: better start with Red Ribbon, it is optimized for the PS3

Ok OoZic,

Reached the editor, think I got all the lines in correctly. Saved the fstab file and exited back to shell.

hit mount -a and I get the message:

mount: Unknown filesystem type: spufs

Whys that happening?

Also when I type mount to check whats mounted, not all the lines I typed are mounted, only 2: the ps3dd2 line and shm line.

Again am I good to go? Or is something ****ed?
