All that was very helpful. But I have a problem. What I did was I modded my Fallout 3 gamesave and modified my level and the name of my guy. All this showed up and worked fine until I tried to load it to my PS3 when I got an error. I used the PARAM tool that was released a month or 2 ago to unlock it, make it unprotected and make it compatible to my PS3. Does that all sound like it would resolve the error?

i think most of the gamesave files are encrypted and you can hardly find free tools to decrypt. there is one commercial tool from codefreak but it is japanese only. there will be a new one from gamegenie, but dunno when. this xploder thingy is only about id conversion. it does not decrypt, so you could hex it.

i think the encryption is in param.pfd, but that i am not sure about

to edit the saves, just do first file compare with different states. for example save with a specific amount of something and then another save with different amount. from there it is easier to find other values
