He gave None of the monies back to the people who donated it to him, and has still to provide documented proof that the monies were actually spent as he stated purely on legal defence and then a donation of the remainder to a worthy cause.

Personally, I think anyone who did donate to him needs their one remaining brain cell taken out and cleaning as if you compare his 'demands' for monies to Grafs, you will see that Graf actually felt/feels reluctant in even asking for help.

In addition to him turning tail on the people he swore blind to stand up for, his pathetic turn around DID hurt the scene soooooooooooooo much more than TB and the like because GH allowed a legal precedent to be made which then made Sony able to go after a REAL Man like Graf.

Oh and for the people who raise him high for beating Apple and the iPhone JB, try reading the actual alterations that were made to the laws concerning what he did and you will find out that in essence, he did sweet FA.

Hope that clears it up a bit @TizzyT , and paints a better picture of him and why so many people actively despise him and what he did?

I'm not trying to troll or anything here, but how (or better yet why) wouldn't fail0verflow use geohots initial lv1 exploit to help their efforts? They obviously used some way to exploit the loaders to be able to dump them and ultimately find out the sign fail, so why not just use an already documented exploit instead of creating your own brand new one?

EDIT: holy ****, nevermind, I completely forgot about the ****ing usb descriptors jailbreak, they probably used that instead of geohot's lv1 exploit. my bad completely.

And you are right, he did use fail0verflow's work to obtain the metldr private key. But he had to exploit metldr somehow, which at the time, was quite a feat.

I'm not a big fan of the guy, but to just write him off as egotistical and a burden to the scene is disingenuous.

No one is so *powerful* or so wise in order to generate a massive lecture to those ones that know nothing about *this* past.

That's what i think, when someone like thig guy enters the arena. Everyone who has some potential is insta-killed.
And i can relate to that in some kind of way, hence the PS3 SCENE or some part of it. Is expecting the resurrection of a demi-god while we have to deal with a different wave of issues and not mtldr related

It's way too *big* the hollow space this guy left so anything trying reaching that area or near that spot, will be shot for sure.
But like in any other aspect of *life* we cannot expect a demi-god resurrection or some flawless plan B to come up but instead we in first instance have little or no respect for each other.
I repeat..im no pacifist. But from that day to this day...everything is more ****ed up than before.
You can be respectful towards the ones that marked some serious number or gave battle to sony but in order to geohot reach that point, i doubt in any point they guy reached all alone that spot. He recieved more than enough *help* to reach his objective, but when you mess with an enterprise like Sony. No friend will back you up (100% sure) and tell you that everthing will be OK when the reality shows you another face and ain't pretty.

And personally i could care less for the *icons* that once represented our dear and beloved PS3.
But i rather stick my face and learn something using ps3devwiki and some personal motivation (if i have some) instead of try or bash in another user face he is being disrepectful towards the demi-god who done so much in so little time.

Like a religious nutcase i rather live by the book (internet terms) than go to church and salute my *Creator* in this case = Geohot.

I had respect for him before. After all, he did contribute to the scene.. Now after knowing that he grabbed all our money for buying a lawyer... Used it to run away fast, by kickstarting on the scene damaging it in the process, by placing Sony stronger than before.
He scared away other hackers... And now, also knowing he disclosed every hack he knew to them, I can only think... Wow that guy is a ******. How could I have had respect for him and for what he had done to us, up until a few mintues ago.
