Red ribbon install help

i've been trying to install linux on my slim. I have been following some previous threads and the wiki and ive tried multiple times.

I can create the ps3dd, ps3dd1 and the ps3dd2. I can create the partitions in the shell. I can even load the live cd in petitboot.

What im not able to do is install red ribbon to the hard drive. When i try to run the installer, it hangs after it asks about where to install it.

When i run gparted it doesnt see any partitions.

The only thing thats different from a standard setup is im using a 1TB hdd and im using an e3 but seeing i can install the firmware i dont see how the e3 could be causing the issue.
Also when i go into the filemanager in the live cd, i cant access certain drives....i get an error.

Because E3 flasher is ****ty chinese engineering (e.g. the clip) which needs to stay attached in order for dual boot to work all the time but it doesnt.
