CECHA01 Downgrade and remarry process

Hey guys im new to the forums and i bought a CECHA01 launch console on ebay that boots and works but didnt know it didnt have a bluray drive or daughter board in it. neither did the previous owner. to say the least they refunded my money and let me keep the thing. But im stuck and want to install another bluray drive. I've got a spare drive from a newer CECHH01 console that has the double laser lens.

Currently the CECHA01 is on firmware 3.60. I've been browsing the forum and read through numerous threads about progskeet and e3 flasher. Which one is the most compatible with my launch PS3? i really just wanna get this thing up and running again. your help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much!

I did the exact same thing, same model. They only gave me a partial refund though.

With it being a nand chip model, Progskeet would be the way to go. E3 flasher is for nor chip models only.

so i guess my best bet would be getting the progskeet with the solderless kit? on modchip central i totalled all three items up and it came to about $108 without shipping. Is that about right? it includes the following:

1) V1.1 Progskeet crystal blue board
2) Adapter PCB Kit
3) NAND 48 Pin TSOP CLIP

is that all i would need?

also is this installed permanently? or is it just flashed then removed?

Maybe some E3 reader or rooted android will do the work.

You can remove it and use it again, hence it's a pain in the eye do it. But you can.

In order to secure the dumps and downgrade you need to follow the tutorial of E3 flasher. You need to JB first (maybe i read wrong in your case).
You can do it with a rooted android/iphone 1g/2g etc.

im sorry but i think what you said just confused me more. Currently im at ofw 3.60 and trying to downgrade to a ofw that would help me remarry a new bluray drive. what exactly would i need to accomplish this on my cecha01?

You have a ps3 with NAND so it's better to use progskeet and you said you will order is OK. but in order to do the downgrade with progskeet solderless tools, and go CFW you have to use this guide = click

But still need E3 reader, again my wires crossed.

Thanks @v8s10 and @playerkp420

You need a way to get the ps3 into factory/service mode, such as an e3 card reader (not flasher) or something similar (PSP, older iPhone, etc..)

Also if you are going the solderless route, you need an injectus to update the bitstream on the progskeet to be able to read/write the nands.

Once you downgrade, you remove the clip and progskeet.

Just a heads up, the nand clips are not the best, and are almost a one time use, and they dont fit properly on the CECHA01 mother board. They need some slight trimming to clear some resistors and capacitors near the nands.

I've downgraded a few 60gb models, but could never get my clip to work enough to get proper dumps so i had to solder.

Seems like I might be out of my league here. Any chance anyone offers this service?

Also looking at the soldered solution. Once it's soldered in. Is it left connected? Or desoldered when finished?
