Hi, since the piece of crap fan in my ps3 slim doesnt work and my ps3 cant be on for more then 2mins I decided to search the internet for solutions... I found somd "external" cooling fans but can they work as good as the internel one I had ?
this is the one I'm talking about ----> http://lightake.com/detail.do/sku.Th...an_Black-45274 please if anyone knows if this would do the work help me cuz its much more expensive to go to a store and repair the broken one since we dont have alot of these in sweden... thanks in advance

i dont know about such extern cooling devices, i think they have to be very loud to cool enough from so far distance... and i dont belive this alone will fix your problem, best and cheapest way imo to fix this is pop open the ps3 housing and replace the original fan, or replace him with a eqaul powerfull one, you can use fans from old computers, boxed cpus ect... for the power you can use usb if you do not want to solder or recable the original powersource

well the problem is that the thing that is onte motherboard is off so the fan doesnt get any power ... can I use another power source to get it working againg ? please help

yeah you can use any fan that fits and runs fast enough, power can come from usb, you have to dismantel the usb plug and find the powerwires, just attach the fin to that and terminate the other one, but its true maybe youre fin is just dirty and if you clean it it will run again, measure with an voltmeter if you get power on the wires

well the thing is that I cant solder neither anyone that I know :/ but dont you think the external will do ?? it suck out the air from the ps3 to then cool it down, id rather but an external than trying to solder my ps3 wich would be a disaster :/

I can't solder due to vision problems so I have a trusted person do that for me but at times does cost. I had a fan with the same issue, no contact and had it soldered to a different point for power but keep in mind I also had the fan controller.

but do you think the external I posted will work insteqd of fixing the internal ? it seem pretty powerful..
