As TizzyT said, You can easily demux the h.264 part out of the mkv and into a mp4 container.

now, is there any way to play dat files? show time is not able to run that type of files

He's still restricted by the speed of his wireless though. If its only 802.11g or so, the transfer speed can't be more than a theoretical limit of 54mbps, which is a bit limiting And could even prove too slow for a 700mb movie transfered over 1½ hour.... But well, if that is a problem that the router is too old, there is nothing else to do than just whip out the cable

You could use a tool to convert the mkv files. I use a program called MKV2VOB to convert them. Nice little tool. Look into that.

erm a g wifi would get results on fullHD film might need some config in settig to get best results but have tested on a simple 1.4 ghz n 256ram n works ok , eithernet is best results ill grant yah i evin use a HDMI ti either net for to transmit my Sly box ti another tv @ full 1080p but am limited to about 30mtr lol

the only problem with this is the size of file size with you able to squeeze films in 720p to 1.2 ti 1.5gig or 1080p to about 3gig with no lose of quality.
if you lke to back your files up becaus eu have a decient amoput of devices that access yer home network and want ease of accesss ti tunes n movies everywere space is of a premium evin with blades eh ?

I use PMS along time, works very well on wired lan.
I recomend this for make nice covers.

I'm trying to use PMS as well, but I have wireless LAN and the streaming is too slow. Is there anything I can do to make it faster?
