Not a fan of Handheld gaming.

Vita's big thing is digital release, in my opinion that's give Sony way too much power over the consumer (them pulling games off the store). The vita is vastly underpowered when you stack it up against the recent dual-core android phones, its wrapped in DRM as well so there will be a constant cat-and-mouse game going. There is also the lame scene politics involved.

Video-wise the vita only supports H.264/MPEG-4 format, so if you were to try and make a multimedia application like Showtime, most things would have to be done in software and most video formats wouldn't be able to be done in realtime.

For homebrew, there isn't any yet (I'm not counting that 300MHz MIPS emulator or the rip off that is PsSuite) and you'd most likely only get emulators, coding an emulator in C# isn't the absolute best, you would want to use C or C++.

I would just go to the Android scene, PSV just seems like too much of a hassle and overall not a good investment.

Well I already have an Android tablet (and an iPhone), and while there are some great games on it, the lack of physical controls kills me. I often say that if I could play Temple Run with a D-Pad I'd probably never die.

So far I'm pretty impressed with the Vita. While it certainly lacks killer games at the moment, it does a fantastic job of playing PSP games (LBP took forever and day to load on my PSP 2000, boots almost instantly on my Vita, with no load time). The Vita's hardware opens up a ton of options that just aren't possible on an Android device. For a portable device, it feels the most like a true console experience to me, and the dual thumbsticks are a giant improvement over the PSP slider-thing. As I mentioned, I am a huge MK fan, which is a title you'll probably never see (or be able to play well) on Android.
