Hello i'm new to this forum,

My name is Anthony and i live in belgium i am abouth to buy a playstation 3 becaus i can buy it for a low price at the moment but sins i am probably the biggest freakast noob on this whole site here i would like to ask some qeustions.

I'd like to jailbrake my ps3 but i dont know what firmware it's on i asked it maybe the person is going to answer me later. But i was wondering if i jailbrake it can i still play online ? or am i doomd thene to never play online again ? becaus that would be nasty :D becaus off the whole bann thing.
Well... sorry for asking such a big qeustion but i can assure you guys i looked for a half day if there was a poste on the qeustion i have and i din't find it so i became a member... to see if some one wants to help me out

dude, you have not searched for half a day have you? the answer should be here in this forum. i've read it a couple times myself.

There is a "tutorial" section and if you click the banner up here /\ you can get your info.

If you JB it (if you can?) and are running CFW then you will NOT be able to go on PSN.

If you JB it and use a hardware kit such as E3 Flasher or Progskeet then you could dual boot which is having CFW and OFW on the same console (sort of lol), but you cannot have OFW and CFW at the same time so you could only use PSN when running the OFW side of it and with that OFW you can NOT have any homebrew at all, and that includes running backup managers.

So if i buy a chipset called progskeet i would be able to keep playing online and also run games frome a hard disk ? but not at the same time ? playing frome hard disk means not online, playing frome cd means i could play online ? thnx for the help so far ! ! ! ! just what i needed

Better buy a second (second hand?) PS3, much easier as reflashing the FW every time you want to switch between OFW and CFW...

Do note: With flashers like Progskeet and E3 you can only downgrade to the FW the PS3 had when it left the factory as a maximum. If it never had OFW 3.55 or lower than you can't downgrade to OFW/CFW 3.55
CECH-3xxx PS3's can't be downgraded at all
