So im a little newbish on the scene here. My ps3 phat died on 3.41 before 3.55 was hacked. So i just bought a ps3 2101b and downgraded from 4.11. I got the cfw working but its not the correct TB cfw it doesnt work with my TB dongle. When i try to upgrade using the xmb to different cfw i get error code "8002f169" Currupt data. so my question is do i have to downgrade to 3.41 in order to install cfw or should i upgrade to 4.11 and downgrade back to correct cfw or ofw, and if theres an easier way to do this please let me know. What should the eflasher be set at durring normal opperation or upgrading cfw? I have all of the switchs set down.
Any help is greatly appreciated. -Turtle

Go back to OFW 3.55 and re-install your patched cfw of choice. I don't mess with TB so THAT part you're on your own..

Any tips for updating with e3 flasher.
Is there a configuration with the switchs that need to be done to update through the xmb?

Not really bro... When you're on OFW I believe you just have the little OFW switch up and the rest down (same when it comes to CFW.)

What I did was when I installed the cfw and made sure everything went correctly, I just shut down the ps3 but immediately restarted it with the CFW switch up then proceed to get your bios.

Thanks i thought those switches were for dual boot, ok guess not... but Same problem with OFW update 3.55 and 4.11 8002f169 data currupt. I'm thinking i have to downgrade to 3.41 or 3.55 with the correct cfw. I think my problem is because my firmware has level 1 checks. no idea though... can get some homebrew to run but not get the tb to run properly.

Use toggle.qa.pkg. Then install OFW3.55 from recovery menu. Then install true blue CFW from recovery menu.

Also make sure to update the true blue with the true blue update.pkg.

Nope no luck with toggle QA when i run. i get a couple beeps and sent back to the xmb. What else is there to try, is there some way i can use downgrade dongle to get to TB CFW.
Wait.... I can see the light i think it might have worked. got past copying firmware to xmb install got to 37% then ps3 restarted.... System setttings doesnt show 3.55 TBCFW it just says 3.55... oh wait TB updater now works. ok i think i'm good. Thanks for the help
One more quick question.. am I good to remove the e3 flasher now???

Yes. You can remove the flasher now. Make sure to put fresh thermal compund(artic silver 5) on the heat sinks, when reassembling.

I reassembled my ps3 and removed e3 flasher. I put fresh thermal compound on the heat sink earlier this week, do you think im good? disassembly is a ***** i dont want to have to do it again for atleast 6 months with this compound. And yes i used arctic silver 5.
