Hi guys, I've been considering the option to get back on the legit side by updating the console to the latest firmware , use netflix and pay for games.

I haven't decided yet, since I really appreciate all the effort done by devs to bring the hacking joy to the sony ps3, but personally, it's getting kind of painfull.

Given that I don't have the necessary skills to hack it further,
Given that most new games now don't and/or will most likely never work on current CFW (3.55 cfw).

Given that my gf is pushing to play Skyrim now that she has gone through dragonAge.

Given that i cannot use netflix under these technical circumstances

Why should I stay on CFW ?

BECAUSE : I play on various emulator (NES,SNES,sega genesis, etc.)
BECAUSE : I use showtime A LOT for playing all kind of music format and movies.

INDEPENDANT FACTS :

I have a reasonnably powerfull PC connected permanently on my television which run XBMC at startup - remotely woke and controlled with a cheap android tablet that I use as a remote for sound , application control and video control.

I could easily switch to that for audio/video purposes : I could also install netflix on that pc instead of using ps3.

though, I like that ps3 can play blue ray, games and netflix movies, it make sense.

Chemixal is confused, kids, needs your thoughts on this one !

Its been said that skyrim plays like a bag of shyt on the ps3, so wouldnt update for that....

the new gta though....hard choice. i too have my computer linked to my tv.

It's tempting kind of... do you know anything about the speed of download/playability , speed of getting up and running on average for games ?

If you want to play Skyrim buy a clone not TB, JB2usb @ $19 plays it fine (least I haven seen the lags that others report on Ps3 (and its the only game I bought it for)) The reason I say not TB is just to help in putting them out of business.

Install showtime.pkg and download navi-x plug in, should cut the need for Netflix

Your GF is happy, ur happy cos u still got 3.55 and its just cost $19 (US) or £12

Before I installed CFW on my PS3, it was sitting in a closet collecting dust. My PS3 games served as weed plates.
