1. Failoverflow shared their findings. Geohot took them and made a cfw claiming to be all his work. A drm'd cfw too, so to say, since it was limited to homebrew only.

2. He asked for donations to help with court/attorney fees. Then he went to South America for a vacation. There is virtually no proof where that donation money went, other than that some of it was donated somewhere (EFF if memory serves me right). No amount was ever attributed to how much he donated.

3. Graf, who actually helped the scene with his own hard work is getting shafted by sony. Partially thanks to geohot agreeing to bend fully over for sony.

Take a good long look at the facts before you kneel down and worship him.

No, I am no pirate, but if you have ever run into my posts, you would know my stance on drm. Back ups can also be used legally.

Sony went after Graf full force because they won against geohot and used that case as a precedent that hacking is not ok.

Honestly speaking, I don't give two ****s about this scene princess known as geohot. He may be of use if he actually tries to code... then again, there is no method to steal like last time, except maybe kakarotos.

Well, I'm not particularly fussed who hacks the ps3 again, if it's egohot, good for him, if it's not, thats okay my main reason for wanting another cfw is so I can backup my "protected" saves on my PS3... which imo I should be allowed to do in the first place without cfw or ftp....

Umm, Sony did *not* "win" against geohot. They settled out of court. Sony dropped the case in return for a gag order. No one knows exactly what happened except George Hotz and Sony. If I were to speculate, I'd guess it went something like this: "Mr. Hotz, whether you are right or wrong in this, we are going to continue pursuing legal action against you ad infinitum. We have billions of dollars to spend in court, you are a 21 year old unemployed kid. Every time your lawyer writes a letter, that is $250 added to your legal costs. We can make your lawyer write many, *many* letters. You can continue this for as long as you want, but you will *never* beat us in court. Here is our offer- you never speak another word about anything Sony related, you never divulge the methods you used to circumvent our NPDRM security, and you never divulge the details of this settlement offer. In exchange, we will clear all your legal costs, plus donate the sum of ten thousand dollars to a charity/organization of your choice. That said though, no-one in their right mind would have acted like he did to force the issue and give Sony no other option but to take him to court in the way they did.

He brought it on himself and by bending over and giving in when he swore to his supporters, and the world in general by his silly video etc, that he would not, his actions did give Sony added weight to go after Graf as brutally as they did
