Anybody know anything about .elf files?

So it's been long since Duplex released something (they still do great work). With their old releases there were always .elf files. To quote
Included is a ELF file for proof and educational purposes
Maybe they tired of spoon feeding us and want us to get off of our lazy a$$es.
Anybody experienced with ELF files?

elf files if i know correctly are the final compiled binaries for games and other applications to run on the PS3 although the extension .elf is used on other platforms/systems etc, you can think of them as .exe are on windows platform.

Executable Linkable Format (ELF)

ELF's are to unix and playstations as EXE's are to windows. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Executa...inkable_Format
