Well, just tried with the new firmware I downloaded, it matches the md5 on the ps3devwiki, tried to install from the recovery menu as well as just normally turning it on and I got error 8002F281 both times. What's funny is that I never had this problem before. It says something about the wiki/bt board on the ps3devwiki... could this possibly be my problem? Edit- just noticed something flashes on the screen before it goes to the error screen, I took a video and found out that it tries to update for a fraction of a second before showing the error, it says "Preparing to update" etc. Before I formatted the HDD on my pc it would try to format the HDD before trying to update. This is really weird. Last edited by JustChillin1414; 06-03-2012 at 09:23 PM. |

CECHK-01... Just tried again with a different HDD than the one I formatted in my pc, the ps3 formatted the HDD and rebooted to the install 4.11 screen. The thing is when it checks the firmware again I immediately get error 8002F165, which is the one I was getting before (I think)... so now I'm back to square one.

Does anyone else have something I could try or should I take the advice on the first page and get an e3, make a dump, then go from there? I just don't want to waste $100...

That page has helped me a bunch of times. I really can't see you buy an e3 flasher to try and fix. When you might not be able to fix it with e3.

since u already formatted hdd's not sure it wil work, u tryed a 'Restore File System" from recovery?
maibe try another hdd format utility: killdisk, hdd low level format tool last resort: a flasher would do the trick, dump it patch with 355 files downgrade, the important files should be there and as euss tod me with a dump with corrupt ros folder, per console intact, its fixable cuse the ros files gets replaced while doing the downgrade anyway |

So do I have to use the manual patching instructions here or can I just put the e3_downgrade.bin on the micro sd and flash that way? Then I would have to use a dongle (or in this case my first gen ipod which I have used before) to downgrade to Rogero 3.1. Now would I be able to upgrade directly from there to 3.55 or is there something else I have to do? |

yes, but don't quote me on that, i'm sure the E3 can fix it tho
![]() dump the bios and verify it, i would do it without the HDD connected(with this error), only e3 installed without sata station, then when booting wait til it show "cannot found correct hdd" then use either the normal way(e3_downgrade.bin+bkpps3bin) or patch the e3 dump with the wiki patches u posted, each console i did was using the normal way(e3_downgrade) then if that step is complete, remove the flasher, insert fat32 formatted hdd, reboot, and it should come up with "connect controller and press PS" then unplug the power cable, insert dongle, trigger fsm, ps3 should turn off, insert usb in right slot(lv2diag.self+PS3UPDAT.PUP) power on console and of u go if all went good it should boot Rogero 3.1, dump it again, if empty ROS folder, reinstall Rogero 3.1 via Recovery menu, redump, ros should be OK, then install "toggleQA" leave the switches as is(000001) it beeps 3 times, check the button combo on the network settings, reboot into recovery again, install OFW3.55, dump again, install any 355CFW again, don't quote me on that, but having a flasher isn't bad anyway hehe

Great! Thanks for your help, and everyone else. I will post again when I get the flasher, hopefully with good news.
