I'm having some issues saving savestates. Haven't changed default paths (USR directory), and I just loaded Super Mario Kart, saved to state #0, then quit RetroArch. Looked at the USR directory for RetroArch and couldn't find anything but the "cores" folder. What's the deal?

I had no problems with savestates, just ran the game, opened the "quick menu" by pressing R3 and load the savestate #.

Don´t know if it's relevant, but I changed the default rom and savestate directory.

Play Road Avenger HD at 60 fps would be perfect! It was a simple FMV game, but incredibly fun.

There is ZIP support - if you press X on a ZIP file in the Filebrowser, it will extract the contents of that ZIP file to the cache partition.

Go back in the Filebrowser to the root, and select hdd1 (the cache partition). The contents of the ZIP file should be there. You can then start your ROM from there.

NOTE:There's currently the issue that if you load zipped ROMs this way, and if you did not set a custom savestate/SRAM path, it will save the SRAM and/or savestates back to the hdd1 partition, which will be 'cleared' when RetroArch is stopped. I will fix that in the next release so that it will never save stuff to the cache partition.

Yeah, I read that about the zip support, which is why I said no *direct* zip support. Is that planned for future updates? Just wondering, as I have to decide whether to unzip all my roms or not.

Thanks for the info about the savestate problem though -- just a few posts above I mention this problem and had no idea it's related to the hdd1 partition. I guess I'll just wait for the next release.

Thanks for your work!

Well, I could include an option so that when it extracts a ZIP to the cache partition, it will immediately start up the first entry in the ZIP file (since in most cases each ROM comes in a single-file ZIP). That would be an on/off option you could set in the menu - there could be an optional confirmation message whether or not you would want to do this.

Does this sound like an idea? I do want to keep the option to extract ZIP contents to the cache partition at all costs (it's about 2GB of HDD space that normally goes unallocated) - and I think this could be a good workaround.

I'll check that out - thanks for mentioning it.

Also - yeah, when Ekeeke commits the Mega CD code I'll update Genesis Plus GX of course for libretro to support Mega CD/Sega CD ISOs. I quite want to see that myself personally - so that's going to happen.

That sounds like a fantastic idea. My main gripe with the current release is that I have to hit circle a bunch of times to get back to the root directory, then enter hdd1 to load the cached rom. I know that only takes a few seconds, so it's not a big deal, but it's a convenience thing. Your idea to immediately load the first entry in the zip file should eliminate all that trouble.

Btw, why the caching, i.e. why can't RetroArch do direct zip support? I only ask because I know SNESNext *did* allow direct loading of zipped roms, which was very nice.

Anyway, I hope you know that most of us are IMMENSELY thankful and appreciative of this great work. Minor complaints like mine are pretty trivial. Thanks so much!
