select if you haven't loaded a game, r3 if you have loaded a game. you have to either go over or down to change libcore.

^^ Well, you compile a lot of stuff, and always helps those who have doubts / issues. That's good enough for me, and it's more than I could do for the scene

I can't get the NeoGeo games to work. I've tried using the CLRMamePro and the official FBA for windows to convert/generate the .dat files but the result was always the same: the ps3 just freeze. The same games works fine on the standalone FBANext, I have no idea what I'm doing wrong with Retroarch

Edit: Im using the kmeaw Retroarch package, tried with the internal and external hard drives.

MAME 0.72 will run Alien 3 The Gun and Outrunners as well I believe. I think the sound was missing for that driver in MAME 0.72 though - but I might be able to backport sound that was implemented in a newer version.

No, you don't need every single FBA ROM for it to work. But some ROMs need parent/clone ROMs in the same directory for them to work. (for instance - sfa3.zip would be the parent ROM, and sfa3u.zip would be the clone ROM. sfa3u.zip by itself wouldn't work - but if you have sfa3.zip as well it will work).

And no, there are no restrictions on where you put these ROMs - you can even put them on USB if you want.

Also - about prBoom - it's unfortunate that prBoom relies on that WAD file being present. Ideally I could attempt to bake this into the libretro port so that you don't need to bother with this WAD file - but I don't know yet how difficult that would be.

Okay, my problem was neogeo games mainly. I'm starting to get more and more cps1/2/(haven't tried yet but assuming)3 games to work.
So, i guess that needs help, maybe it needs to be told where the bios is located.

First of all, thanks for the amazing homebrew/emulator collection. it is excellent to see people still updating things regularly in the ps3 scene

second, i've run into a small problem: i'm trying to change the default core (it's "stuck on the vba) and i've followed all the instructions (retro tab in options, select the new core, quit retroarch and restart) but, it isn't working. it just doesn't change the core at all.

any suggestion?
