I really don't care about Piracy.

What I want is the ability, on any Official Sony Firmware, to install homebrew, Linux, and to be able to play PS1, PS2 titles I own.

Since Sony refuses to give me that what I want from the scene is, the ability to install CFW over or along side any OFW. So that I can have homebrew, linux, and be able to play PS1 PS2 discs I own.

That being said these dongle guys are hipocrites. To me they're just encouraging piracy and then b****ing when they get pirated.

First, I wish everyone would stop calling the play of backup games "piracy". Not everyone that plays backups from their HDD are pirates downloading games all day for free. Sure there are those individuals. However, some of us actually do support the makers of the games we like. Using the term piracy to encapsulate all backup users is stereotyping.

I get what Wololo is saying but I think hes just speaking in speculation and what ifs. Just as easily, if someone can reverse an older firmware and get things working from that, a new firmware with new encryption may not matter. It may just prevent the newer firmware from being reversed. Either way it will shed light on how the dongle works in the first place which will allow devs to do what they havent been able to do to date.

Will Sony block it, maybe. Or maybe they cant. Or maybe knowing the ps4 is their main focus, they just dont care as much at this point. Either way, progress is progress and its all for the better good.

All that said, this step by step twittering is also potentially bad. Building up hopes of the many in wait doesnt do anything more than bring out the haters who will scream fake till something functional to the layman is presented. Much respect to anyone working on this, but this scene has had enough false prophets. Oct0xor may be the one who finally brings us to the holy land. However, I think the devs should really just keep things to themselves till they are ready to blow up the scene with something everyone can actually utilize.

Of course if that were the case, we would be stuck with news posts like hellsings whois searching every day (just kidding)

Sorry, but you and others are getting confused with just who and what Sony are.

Sony made the PS3, Sony are the ONLY ones who know EXACTLY how it all works, and does anyone Truly believe that TB has managed to do something that Sony is not aware of?

2 simple and logical reasons behind why Sony have not already patched the TB hack...

#1 They do not care

#2 They are unable to do it without having to do a Major overhaul of how games work on the PS3

TB is not some hypothetical thing that may or may not happen, it is here now and for a company who have hounded people like Graf and choked every single glimmer of an exploit as soon as they could, does it Really make sense that they do not know how TB works?

Don't let a knucklehead who's using this opportunity to show off their skills tell you any differently. As consumers, who want's to buy a system and then have features removed or as a gamer who want's to buy an incomplete game and have to pay more money for content that was SUPPOSED to have been in the game (as in the case for Assassin's Creed 2 with chapters 12 and 13 where you had to pay $14 for them). Now a number of games have DLC, but the reality is most of it was already made beforehand and they just want you to pay more for it. With a blatent scam like that I'm suprised more people haven't said anything, but with crap they put in food now a days more and more people just don't care. So let me say this, DON'T BE A VICTIM get the games YOU deserve and don't let some A**hole guiltrip you into believing this "save the industry" bull**** just because they want to show you what they can do with dongles.....E.D.S?
