You are correct. You need a hardware flasher to downgrad.

I'm assuming you are on a higher firmware than 3.55, the only method is to use a hardware flasher like the E3 Flasher to downgrade.

And I am in desperate need of some help in jailbreaking it. Here's the full story:

I bought this PS3 earlier today from Gamestop (My first mistake), take it him, set it up, then start working to Jailbreak it. I find out all the fun stuff about 4.11, so I look for a JB version of 4.11. After going through a hundred different Surveys, making sure the entire f**king internet knows every little detail about me, I came across this video,

PS3 JAILBREAK 4.11(NO SURVEYS) - YouTube

which downloads a straight 4.11-JB .PUP file. I put it on my PS3, and the update actually works! Sortof. Turns out that it's only half of the update. All the features are there, they just need to be unlocked with another update. The "Key" file. The description lead me to this forum, and this video:

For only 20 bucks, I can get the key. As for the validity of that statement, I have no idea. I've PMed the guy's youtube account to confirm that fact, but I'm still waiting on a response. Also the very kind things the people on the before linked forum makes me a bit less likely to believe the guy.

Oh yeah, I forgot the part where I tried to get a refund from Gamestop, so I could buy an older model. It's against their policy. Specifically, they can't refund a console if the box is open. Technically, it's against my policy to not burn down their stores whenever I see them, but hey, kerosine is expensive.

My Sister is checking to see if I can't trade out this PS3 for one of her friend's, but I'm not holding my breath.

Can anyone please help me out here? Whether there is a 4.11 crack out there that works, or a downgrader that actually works on the 3rd gen models, or even if that "Key" from that forum or video actually works. What's my best course of action, forum of people clearly smarter then I?

It's definitely fake. You should read the thread about the E3 team cracking tb and possibly a new 4.11 cfw.

Also, what is my best course of action for JB this PS3 I have? It sounds like my only option is to do that trade I had mentioned earlier. So what model of PS3, and what firmware is best to JB in? I've heard that 4.11 can't be downgraded, and I've also heard that the 3rd Gen PS3 models can't be downgraded either.

I'm looking for advice, that's what I'm trying to get at.

There is no known legit 4.11 cfw out there. The 3.55 cfw has a spoof that spoofs the 3.55 firmware to 4.11 firmware and has a bypass to access psn.

All fat models of ps3 are downgrade-able. For the slim, cech-25xxB and lower are downgrade-able.

gamestop will take any return for any reason for up to a week. its in their policy posted all over their store. I know i do it all the time. And i have bought a ps3 from there in hopes that it was on older firmware but they update the firmware before reselling. I took it back the same day, the box was open. so if they say its against the policy they are full of sh*t and trying to get over on you
