I'll remove the backups from the SD card and try the file on it's own. Would it make much of a difference?

Bah it's still not coming up with the screen I need.

It's definitely completing all the way and I reset with the XMB menu as the instructions say but when I power on to check it just comes up with the menu like normal.

This person: http://www.ps3hax.net/showthread.php?t=38318
seemed to have the same problem as me. He hasn't responded in a while so he's probably found a way past it. Seemed like he was doing the next step?
Is it safe to assume it's on there? Should I start trying to apply my dongle?

Does anyone have any ideas to help? Anything I may have missed?

Send a message via AIM to TizzyT
no reason to doubt the forums but can also cross check with the IRC like hellsing9 suggested.

Damn the same thing is still happening.
However when I connect my Jig with the ps3's power off and press the eject and reset button simultaneously for the three beeps the boot-up process definitely takes about 2 mins. What would that mean?

Also just like the other guy whom I linked before, it is saying the PSP is an unknown usb device

I might head to the IRC chat now as well. Keep the suggestions rolling though if you can. Could be anything.

Just to make sure, is this the IRC channel everyone is talking about?

lol the only ones talking to me are HaX and Olga
Everyone else seems to be AFK

I've been trying it and trying it. Different combinations of files on the SD card. Renaming the update.bin. Switching off and restarting the external harddrive.

I've attached the log file for one of the downgrade attempts. Everything is saying OK. There is no indication that it is failing as far as I can see.

However, EVERY SINGLE TIME I turn the system on it doesn't show me the "Connect PS3 controller" screen... I've been at this all day. No matter what I plug into the USB slot without that screen, it will just say "Invalid USB Device Detected". Bloody hell.

Anyway I'll leave this up and when I wake up tomorrow I'll hop back on the IRC and give it all another go.

Thanks for all the help so far guys. Cheers

Thumbs up

just some pointers..

u trying dualboot by change?
the log showing ur writing to E3NOR instead of the PS3 flash

the normal way = bkpps3.bin+e3_downgrade.bin+log file on SD(000001)
hit start, arr 8 min later, reboot and u must get the "controller screen"
then first pull powercord/switch at the back, insert dongle to trigger FSM(correct fsm jig for the device) in right usbslot
insert powercord/switch at the back while the downgrade dog is already in there
then POWER+EJECT
etc..etc..

the dump is alright, another thing if doing properly and with the "normal e3 downgrade" if it's booting back into XMB for some reason?(i never seen this happening on any console)then u should use "manual e3patches" patch bkpps3.bin and restore it with switches 000000(all down) as per wiki instructions...

anyway, here's a correct e3_downgrade log, notice it's erase/writing to PS3 flash/NOR and not like in ur "log" to the e3NOR

start again:
update E3 with samsung update, so e3 is clean and good update on it
reboot
set switches 000001(switch 1-5 down/6UP)
hit reset on tfboard
wait a couple minutes just in case it's busy...
hit start and do it like u did previous, it's the right way = bkpps3.bin+e3_downgrade.bin on SD
8 minutes later, reboot and normally one must get the "controller" screen

if doing properly and still nothing, use the e3manual patches from the wiki

goodluck

Ok that helps allot mate.

I'll do as you suggested and go a clean update and try the whole process again cheers.

I'm going to use a different E3 update.

I think my problem may have been using the latest E3 firmware here: 2012-01-05 E3 flasher upgrade file download, support fast dual boot. Please note if your console can't dual boot, don't upgrade this firmware. <<--- (It actually told me if I wasn't dual booting not to use it lol I just blatantly went for the *latest* firmware.)

Instead of:

2011-11-22 E3 flasher upgrade file download, support backup bios 3 times automatically.

Can someone confirm this? My ps3 probably can't dual boot (CECHH) so I should be using the 2011 copy shouldn't I?

I'm going to go try this and will get back to you all with the results. Thanks for the help so far great community

Hmm ok I actually managed to get to the "connect controller with usb" screen this time.
Re-updating the firmware did it thank you.

It's just one problem after another for me atm lol Now my dongle is not working. I'm using PS3Jig. Some people have had success with it and others not so much.

PS3Jig does the whole process challenge accepted, challenge received and Done! but the PS3 does not turn off by itself like it should. After about half an hour of waiting for it to turn off I switched it off at the back of the PS3. When I turn the PS3 back on it is the same "connect controller with USB screen". Does anyone have any ideas on this?

I have a HTC Desire HD android phone and I'm going to try track down the program Klutsh made just like PS3Jig (psfService Mod). I'll get back to you all on how this goes.

Cheers

yup

e3update 2012-01-05 is for fast dual boot, in order to use this one must first prepare(remove resistor/solder wire) the console like shown here (credits to TDCroPower2 for the solution) and yes CECHH-DIA-001 can fast dual boot, same point..check the link ^

this one has a check, it's alright for the first console, second fails as it's set for 1 console only - (ONE KEY downgrade per console)

instead, use the samsung update 28-10-2011( if ur not into "dual boot" and perhaps later on like to downgrade more ps3's)
if u can't find, check playerk420 sig

it supports fast dual boot, check previous link for HOWTO, after preparing console, update the E3 with 2012-01-05 like u did and follow the guide attached(credits to ? and kman82 for the PDF)

have fun and goodluck

edit: alrighty, first problem fixed
can't command on the JIG problem, check the wiki for the right file>> all supported devices are there

i have no PSP, not a huge sony supporter , anyway it matters wich CFW is running on the PSP

here's a quote from a guy...same problem = update/downgrade? psp kernel to 5.33 and it should work

Hi guys I was struggling for 2 days with no luck with service mode.I mean psp sent all commands but didn't shut down psp so service mode didn't work,I read that many users got simillar problem...but I got solution....its psp kernel to blame. When I was on psp 6.35 custom it worked partially as I mentioned before,so I was a bit frustrated, then I used some software to create my battery as pandora battery then downgrade to 5.33 and It's working flawlessly.

Cheers haz I'm going to downgrade my PSP a little and try this. I'm sitting at 5.50GEN Prometheus so I've got to make a pandora's battery and downgrade. I'll let you know how it goes
