So, I noticed G4 put this article up as well after reading it on Kotaku. Thought I'd drop by and make a thread about it because I hate talking with people on the articles. Too many fanboys and retards. Not to mention how hard it is to load replies.

First off, it's rumored to be released for the 2013 holidays. The rumored specs. are an AMD x64 CPU and an AMD Southern Islands GPU. The Orbis would also have a resolution of 4096x2160. what do you guys think ? Do the specs. sound realistic enough to be on the next console ? And what would you guys like to have on the next PS console?

I'm going to say some things sound plausible, while others are complete bull. Knowing Sony's history, the PS4 might not have backwards compatibility. Personally, I couldn't care less because I'll be keeping the PS3 if they don't support it. If this bothers anyone I'd like to know why, really. The only way I could understand is if you missed out on the PS3 and don't feel like buying one.

Now, The CPU sounds like it will be decent. It is a console though, so it's not like we will need a really powerful one unless it's able to multitask.
The Southern Islands GPU are out. It's the Radeon HD 7000 series for anyone that didn't know. I must say that if these actually make it in the final build I'll be impressed. Even more so if they take a 7950 or 7970. The only thing I'm concerned about is the price. It would be fairly hard to get these specs for a cheap price. The PS4 would be around the 500-700$ range and that would put a lot of people off...

The thing I really don't buy is this used game crap. There is no way Microsoft or Sony would be stupid enough to adopt this. Stick to the Online pass model if you have too but, this would never

The Wii proved that. Although, I thought the whole life/death thing going on with the VITA and PS4 would have been a cool concept. *four in japanese is pronounced the same as death and vita is latin for life; then again orbis is circle (orbit, cycle) in latin so "circle of life" is cool too*

Hardware type...I don't know about this change up in hardware type, losing BC always sucks. I don't have much space as is and selling my console could mean a few more bucks toward new games. Do I really have to keep my PS2,3, and buy a PS4 too play all the games I own on the PS platform.

Hardware power...this is the exact level of performance I was expecting and same with the timeframe. 4k or 3D and 1080p @ 60fps. I was still expecting 4k to be supported at least in movies and some early games.

Side notes on tech: a lot of people don't realize that a single mid-high 7xxx card can support 3 1080p monitors and 4k is only ~twice the pixles of 1080p. With optimization, 4k in-game on this hardware is completely reasonable.

An upgrade to quad layer blue disk and increase in disk read speed would be the other requirement for 4k.Sounds reasonable enough.

Tech doubles every 1.5-2 years, 2013 will be six years after the PS3 launch...do the math, count the pixles, whatever.

Used games...Hoping its not ture, but if it is, either both sony & MS (and maybe NIN) start at the same time or whoever goes it alone fails.

Price...$500 was what I'd expect for those specs at the end of 2013.

But, if they have 1/2 of the in house dev teams with launch day, must have titles within 3 months of the NX launch, it won't matter if its $500 or $700.

With Sony losing money looks like very soon we have to pay for the online service. Also PSN wont be Free on the PS4 that is something you should prepare for. Consoles aim are to to build a multimedia center and they want as many people on board paying as possible so they will lock multiplayer with it. This gen they lost out on what could be millions or even billions of dollars in revenue. PSN Plus failed and they need to profit from it if they are going to do any substantial improvements in design and usability. (ALL INFO IS FROM G4TV.net)

I like BC, mostly it eliminates the load of consoles and plus.. You get a better resolution and possibly the game might run better.

As for the price, I've read multiple times that both Sony and Microsoft wanna have the price of there consoles around 300$ or cheaper although I agree with what you say. The way they try to handle a greater system to a great price.
Psn.. Honestly I hope it stays free but it is more than possible from all the loss.

well sony said "never say never" about a new slimmer revision of the current gen ps3 so i doubt they would release the next ps with BC.
why not make more profit by selling 2 seperate consoles with their own game libraries

Theres been talk about ps4 but no Devoleptment for it if there was it would go on IGN or E3`s website
