"QA Flag Extra" and “System Update Debug"

Hi

My PS3 is on on TrueBlue-3.55-CFW-v2, and I want to use this method to sweep between TrueBlue-3.55 and rebug 3.55.2. but I didn't understand the first step

1.Enable QA Flag Extra and go to the debug settings and enable “System Update Debug”
can some one help me with that ? is there is some program that i have to install in order to "Enable QA Flag Extra" ?

Thank you

you may also use rebug's toggle qa pkg for this to

I was hella confused with all the info about QA Flagging. This is what I did.

Note1- I was on TBCFW so I had to flash back to Kmeaw
Note2- This may work with other CFW's such as Rebug U didn't test,
Note3- Will not work with TBCFW

Things you will need(what I used) Big thanks to @tthousand

USB Flash Drive or some kind of external storage device
Kmeaw CFW Pup
Rebug's Toggle QA pkg (you can find this at http://www.eurasia.nu/)

1. Once on Kmeaw install the Rebug Toggle QA package

2. Navigate to the Settings column of the XMB then to Network Setting(at the very bottom) "Settings\Network Setting"

3. While on(not in) the Network Setting press L1+L2+R1+R2+L3+D-pad Down to unlock the Debug Settings Icon

4. Go into the Debug Settings Icon and then find System Update Debug option press triangle to open side menu now turn on "System Update Debug"

5. In a file manager create a folder called updater on the root of hdd0 in the updater folder make folders named 01, 02, 03 however many you need for the update pup's now inside of the numbered folders place one of your OFW or CFW pup's and you may name rename the pup's to whatever you desire such as Kmeaw, Rebug and so. (hddo\update\01\PS3UPDAT.PUP Note- you can now rename the Pup)

6. Once step 5 is complete return to the XMB navigate to Setting column then System Update and now there is an option to update via hard drive.(Setting\System update\update via hard drive)

That's it. Hope this helps someone

No need to enable "System Update Debug", that option is only for storing PUPs local to harddrive. 'Recovery reinstall without hash check and enabling downgrades' is already enabled the moment QA-flag extra is set in syscon by the QA-toggle.pkg

Damn @euss I wish I know half the stuff you do, I read that dev wiki all the time but reading is nothing compared to experience. Alos the local storage and the bypasses was what I was going for I just posted that little guide cause I was confused with all the info on QA. Thanks again and keep the knowledge coming.

That "System Update Debug" option is true gold for alpha/beta testers though, when testing out things on multiple firmwares....

I used it for downgrading >300 times in one weekend, when documenting the entire QA menu array on that wiki page - and later again to check for errors.. LMAO
Memdump was also quickly tested on multiple firmwares with this neat option...

Example of folder structure/filenaming:
Code:
\update\01\3.55-PSN_MFW
\update\02\3.55-OtherOSpp
\update\03\3.55-TrueBlueV2
\update\04\3.55-Cobra
\update\05\3.55-Rebug
\update\06\3.50-MFW
\update\07\3.42-MFW
\update\08\3.41-MFW
\update\09\3.41-OtherOSpp
\update\10\3.40-MFW
\update\11\3.30-MFW
\update\12\3.21-MFW
\update\13\3.15-MFW
\update\14\3.10-MFW
\update\15\3.01-MFW
\update\16\3.00-MFW
\update\17\2.80-MFW
\update\18\2.76-MFW
\update\19\2.70-MFW
The maximum listed is 20, but you can store more PUPs, they are just not selectable beyond 20.

I QA flagged my ps3 a long time ago when i was on kmeaw, however i am on rebug 3.55.2 now and it looked like the QA flag disappeared. I tought once your PS3 is flagged it will allways stay flaged. I checked that my mode in "CEX DEX" was on retail did the "toggle QA" again and did the button combo, then ticked "system update debug" but there is no option showing up to install firmwares from HDD...

Help would really be appreciated thanks in advance

I believe it is in menu 1 (CEX) possibly half way down' also with using REBUG there is no need for the button combo as REBUG is designed for the debug menus to always show

Edit: also the option to save update to hdd only shows up when attempting to update unless updates are already saved there
