the description is so vague that countless products from many sectors could be classed as infringing on their technology when they are released companies seem to make more money in lawsuits with other companies than they do from sales. i think this is a pre-emptive trap against any new tech from rivals. it looks like they basically setting themselves up to sue anyone who would create a device that responds to visual/audio/biometric feedback from a consumer which covers any media related/advertising application IMO. |

One way I can see them being allowed to put this in practice is by making agreements with the governments: as long as they provide the info they collect to the "authorities", it will be legal.
As more and more people play games, even if they are just "casual" games, this is perfect for profiling people's tastes, race, gender and political tendencies e.g. by sampling how people react in a game when they kill certain types of enemies, or how they react to certain political views subtlety presented in games. I'm also thinking about those games where you choices influence your "karma" to give you different endings. If needed, authorities will justify collecting this info with something like "we can now detect if someone is a potential terrorist or a potential psycho killer, or if someone is just an evil person and thus prevent crimes before they happen" and the masses will agree. We risk getting to live in a world like in "Minority Report", but based on real collected data instead of the psychic visions presented in the movie. If you think about how governments have always tried to control populace behavior, it makes me wonder just how long it will take until they pull a stunt like this, maybe even forcing other companies to use similar technologies. Or perhaps it has already begun, as more and more games force you to be connected to the internet to play? |

Dont worry about that...
Cause its happening right NOW!!! I have a sony smart 3d with a camera that tracks my presence to turn off when im away and mesure my face to distinguish my face from a child face, it has an alarm when a child walk too close to the screen. Also it check my point in the space in front the screen to adjust the audio quality. When the tv set is conected to internet IM SURE IT IS BROADCASTING EVERYTHING THE CAMERA AN MICROPHONE CAN WATCH. If anyone want to track the traffic of that "smart spy" tvs... So... i disconect all that features(and save power) and never connect my tv to the web because i dont need it.. (Sony 3D sucks!!!) Im thinking... ill double check my old sony cds to look for some spy program hidden in them... Saludos!!! |
