I know @euss and others say that the dongle you use matters. But in my experience and my research, is not true.

Basically it is like this:

Usb attached
Code sent
Code retrieved
Shut down

And wala fsm.

I have read many threads saying that psp is crap to use for a fsm dongle. But that is what I use and has never failed me.

Except for on 1 ps3 that the usb ports go dead when my e3 flasher is installed.

I have used it to remarry drives, fix RSOD, and downgrade.

So from my experience, I believe that as long as the dongle is programmed correctly, to send and receive the code, that is not the problem.

So if you can not enter fsm(and your dongle is programmed with the correct hex), remove the e3 flasher. Then the usb ports will have power again.

I know it work like other dongle. But it needs to programmed correctly or else it will not work. Cause sometime when updated it downgrade function, disconnect and reconnect found that the upgrade file is missing.

Now i use PS3Break. Just flash it downgrade firmware once and you can use anytime without need to update it.

You are correct. All dongle or JIG should work if do it correctly

The problem with dynamic devices as PSP is that it matters very much what firmware is on the PSP, how the PSgrade is initialised and that the user has enough experience with his PSP to intelligently use it.

* where written PSP, read as: Android device: Phone/MP3 player ; Calculator: TI84+/TI89+ etc.

A dongle does not have a boot, does not have to be rooted, has no userinterface, no menu's to choose from, just plug it in.

With a dongle the most seen problem is users having the PSJB code on it, instead of PSgrade. But once PSgrade is on it, it is as simple as you say: console poweroff, plug in rightmost USB, console poweron, powerbutton + reset toggle. USB dongle is initialised by lv1.self, asks for authentication, sends service mode request, writes to encrypted syscon area the FSM bit and powers off console. After that, the normal USB Stick can be used with the LV2diag.self and PS3UPDAT.PUP in root. (which is the 3rd most made mistake, wrong SELF or PUP named wrong/wrong location).

PSGrade is simple, no rocketscience, even the underlying workings are pretty simple, even if you do not have any understanding of PS3 coding/security mechanisms.

Dump your flash, and try to validate it, I bet fails validation because it is clipped bad (provided the metldr revision /IS/ from a downgradeable console). If you doubt that, upload it to mediafire and join IRC ef.net #ps3downgrade so we can have a look at it.

Dear hard working PS3 gurus and guru disciples, I am Jayguruson and I am new to this forum. Pleasure to make all of your acquaintances.

I do not wish to be the newbie that beats a dead, decaying horse to death but... Alas... would someone be kind enough to guide me to the proper link or tutorial or other through tutorial that guides one to undo a "Three Beeper RLOD" after trying to downgrade from 4.11 to 3.55 with an E3 Flasher and being interrupted. The dang thing made 4 out of eight blue lights and just stopped... Why?! I do not know... I, perhaps foolishly, interrupted the power and now the lousy confounded thing beeps three times and shuts off. I have backups of the bios and all of that but I would like very much to have the simplest, most effective, efficient and working fix for this grievous mishap.

If I am not mistaken, there is a soldering method, a calculator method and?! I am not sure beyond that...

Please help an uncertain chap aye? Thank you in advance!

just solder sbe to tristate
flash original dump 100000 (make sure its good dump)
once done dont turn off ps3
switch to 000001
put e3downgrade.bin with original dump
press reset then press start on e3
continue with downgrade step

You can't trigger service mode with that dongle. Have a look at this http://www.ps3devwiki.com/wiki/Talk:...PSgrade_Dongle
