In a fantasy if someone released a credible/functional list of eboots. Or just E3 they will gain more credibility and THEN more profit. (but in reality you know that this will not the be the *Solution*)
But you can't give *the code* first and then release the device.

It's like you buy an Iphone and you can't make phone calls.
They are *taunting* in some way, or doing some research about which users will gave their money away for a *free solution* it's a big, phat ass = Paradox.

If its a 3.55 dongle then its nothing new. If its cfw 4.11 and about 10$ i would be happy to pay. Especially when it gets updated.

Why don't just release a cfw or eboots without a dongle and ask for donations?

I mean, a dongle is clearly not necessary (they proved that). It's just to make sure they get money for their work...

Just save yourself the trouble and costs of making another dongle and ask for donations. I believe that there is still some respect left in the ps3-scene.

(OR if they don't trust the community, create something like console specific packages (they proved to be smart guys) but please leave unnecessary hardware cost, and the whole hassle of ordering, out of it.)

Because if they sell they get every user's money (that buy the device) if they release stuff for free, they will get like 10% of the money, they would however get mine, whereas putting a dongle on the market won't get any of my moniez...

@mirkie even that i will really doubt ill give my money away, even if it brings homebrew to 4.11 (and the possibility of 4.11 being the new 3.55) but i don't really believe that they have anything, let alone pay for it, we shall see what the future brings.

Sure but let's say they ask $20 for their dongle. How much profit does that mean for them? I mean, they have to produce that ****, ship it to resellers, resellers take their share of the profit,...

Just a donation system, possibly with some VIP features for people who actually donate, could give them pretty much the same amount of net profit at a much lower cost for the customers. That would then again lower the treshold for donating... Donate $5 vs buy a $20 dongle.

10% is a bit generous
They wont get my money.. spent $14 on the E3 Card Reader (best of the ones I bought)
Got given an E3 Flasher (poorly designed POS)

Got a couple TBs here and still havent played a newer game with them yet

ah i see your point and fair enough, but hey other dongle cloners are selling it for 20 or 30 or whatever, and they are having profit (otherwise they wouldn't sell right?) but you know that you can build a dongle for less than 5 dollar, which is like nothing and they will profit the rest even with packaging and shipping they ship large batches of dongles, which when sold turns out into huge profit.

but seriously your donation idea is good, but i really doubt they will do that
