Hello, i have a fat ps3 80 GB. I got it a long time ago. I've always had the intention of hacking it but i've never gotten around to it. i did my wii and it was a breeze. But Sony seems to make it more complicated.

So just a few questions.

1) is it even possible to install custom firmware on my ps3? I am running fw 4.10, am i already screwed? From what i've gathered only fw 3.55 can be hacked and run games off the hardrive. Is there a way to downgrade? Can you post a nice tutorial on how to downgrade?

2) If it is possible, am i able to play online? If i am, what are the chances of being console banned?

3) I read something about megaman back up loader? Or mega backup loader?? idk i dont remember the name very well, but it lets you run back ups off the hardrive, so help with that would be appreciated.

And it really doesn't matter if you plan on downgrading, if you are its kind of pointless to upgrade if you are just going to downgrade again. Also downgrading is not for the weak hearte imo, do plenty of research before hand before buying anything.

So yeah, Adamsville is Lying dont listen to him.
IMO you should get on IRC and ask the people at efnet #ps3downgrade to guide you through the downgrade process.

Wait, so i CAN downgrade even if im not on 3.70??? how exactly, can you be specific ?
