yes the playstation was originally a joint venture between Nintendo and Sony that went sour, and I am kind of glad that it did.
I have grew up on Nintendo. I got a NES at the age of 6, and a SNES at the age of 8 or 9. @japsander yeah I agree with that whole KI thing. KI gold was not as good as SNES KI. IMO SNES was the most memorable of all the consoles I have owned. We had Killer Instinct, Mortal Kombat, Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana, Final Fantasy 6, (3 in regions outside of japan) and the list goes on. The thing about those days were good games sold themselves, it wasnt about graphics or console power, it was about how awesome the games were, and still to this day I find myself going back and playing some of the classics.

Anyone remember the Mega PC? I saw it on a gameshow hosted by Violet Berlin when I was a kid and I wanted one so bad!
