The PUP file format which allows you to update or downgrade your firmware. For example PS3UPDAT.PUP either it be from the Official source which is Sony or the Jail Broken version which is PS3UPDAT.PUP also but the version would be 3.55 I would like to know if I can downgrade the official firmware to a 3.55 through a USB Stick and use the Kmeaw Jail Break Firmware? Since I already have a 4.11 Firmware installed on my system now. I do not want to have a Red Screen of Death on my PS3. Thank you.

Sorry yes, if your ps3 is fat and on 4.11 you need a flasher to get back to 3.55 (I believe you can downgrade directly to 3.55 CFW using @playerkp420 's E3 guide)

There is only 3.41 (outdated) and 3.55 cfw (KMEAW & REBUG are the 2 best imho)

You cannot downgrade through usb only. You need hardware. You will not get RSOD, even if you did there is a fix for that.

Using minvercheck you can find out what you could downgrade too.

You could potentially downgrade from 4.11 to 1.00 if your ps3 supported it and you used a hardware flasher to get from 4.11 to 3.55 (or lower i.e: 1.00).

From 3.55 you could downgrade to minver using QA flag and debug update, but that's a whole 'nother story.

I could downgrade my system from 4.11 to 1.0(if supported) only by means of a hardware flasher?

What is the purpose of the FLASHER aside for tapping into the NOR chip? All we need is to reprogram the NOR chip and there would be no need for the FLASHER, right?

and if I make my own Hardware Flasher and just use the software from E3? Is it ok?
