Is their anything I can do with 4.11?
I have a fat 4.11 ps3. My son broke the disc drive by jamming as many games as possible so I took it out of the kids rooms and didn't know what to do with it. I was wondering with the new firmware is their anything I can do to get all the old system emulators on there so I can play some old school games on there? I don't need any PSN access at all so I don't mind not being able to play games online. After reading I noticed most people were saying there's no way to jailbreak and go online with 4.11. But can I somehow just get the emulators on there? And if so, what process would I have to take? Thanks for the help.

You may be able to downgrade your PS3 to 3.55. Since that is the highest hackable firmware. Depends on whether your PS3 came new with 3.55 or lower. You can use minimum version check pup, to see the lowest possible firmware for your console.
Then you will need a hardware flasher to downgrade. Look here.

Wow, that seems like a ton of work. Any other suggestions on what I could do with it since that doesn't seem worth it? I wished they still had other OS but they don't. Now it's just being used for PS3 Media Server.

theres not alot you can do to run homebrew fella, find someone who knows how to flash it, cld cost u 30 pounds and then worlds ya oyster with it

since we're talking about what to do with a simi broken ps3 and old school emulators. I've been wondering if you could use a ps3 as the bases of a mame arcade?
