my model is cech 2504B 160gb.
When i replaced hdd of 1tb,i started upload firmware 3.55 and console shuts down on about 30-40%. |

, you have many *backups* on the 1TB HDD? if not, format it on the PC or copy the whole content of the HDD to your computer.
And format the hardisk to fat32 or NTFS. Now try with the HDD (1 TB) to format the HDD from your PS3. Report back.

i have same problem when i back old hdd and when no hdd are in ps3 slot,i think something is with my ps3 software,not hardware.

Place your old HDD back and see if that still works...
You can't use the slim PS3 without HDD because a part of the FW is installed to the HDD...
