Merridoc what firmware is your ps3 on at the moment ?

3.66 I believe, but I'm in the process of trying to downgrade. Every 3.55 firmware I try to use ends up being corrupted on the recovery mode screen.

u cant downgrade like that. u need to look up about downgrading with hardware flasher . and not free its cost money to buy , no other way round than a hardware flasher

highest hackable = 3.55 how did you miss that!?

Trying to install 3.55 over 3.66 will not work without hardware flasher such as E3 or progskeet as long as your PS3 isnt unhackable CECH-3000 series. Look on underside of your ps3 there is a label.

with a hardware flasher yes it will work. the way u been trying no it wont ,
