For users who only have 5 megabits worth of bandwidth, newsgroups are more of a hassle than torrents.

With a torrent I can just install utorrent and then download @ my silly crappy 500KB/s. With a N/G I need N/G software, try to figure it out, download all the par's etc and still at ≠ 500KB/s

Thought about N/G's before but until this city gets its highspeed under control well, S.O.L.

nzb are easier than torrents lol

client = altbinz, it will auto repair and extract for you so no need to bother selecting the pars seperately.

last time i used torrents if you got a bad part you were screwed and had to wait hours for speed to build up and also had to work around throttled ports, not to mention advertising your IP to the world

process = open nzb > click connect, thats it

no waiting for seeds/peers either to speed up. open nzb and full speed all the time. for me on a good day thats only 500kb/s but its immediate and consistent

the main thing i like about usenet though is the privacy

There are lots of benefits to usenet, I do agree. Just more of a hassle to me :P It seems I'm a person who likes to take the hard route even though there's gigantic signs saying "HEY OVER HERE, TAKE THE EASY ROUTE".

I'm a bit ignorant to the world of N/G but I've always been keeping in with private sites (torrents) and staying away from public stuff.

But, the internet just isn't what it used to be for me anymore.... I'm losing interest in it majorly Unfortunately, I'm also losing interest in a lot of things I like/love..
