PS3 downgrade possible...or is it?

Hello, I was trying to downgrade my PS3 last night. Here's my specs...

PS3 slim 160 GB
Lowest possible firmware is 3.40
model # CECH-2501A
Current firmware is OFW 4.11 (possible stopper or something or other?)

The funny thing is it lets me use the CFW (3.55 kmeaw) but I don't know if it will brick if I flash it. So will I brick my PS3 if I flash the CFW?

Ok, I have another question. Does the E3 card flasher work in my case? If there's one thing I refuse to do it's soldering, because I have no experience with it and I'm afraid of screwing up since I haven't soldered anything before.

there is no E3 card flasher, there is an E3 flasher, and there is the E3 card, they are different things, as for the flasher yes it does work on your machine, and thats what you will need to use.

e3 flasher works, it's chinese, but if it works once, then it should probably work a couple more times xD.

doesn't require soldering, except for dual booting, which i believe you do not want.

www.ps3devwiki.com subsection Downgrading with Hardware Flasher should contain the info you need. there's also subsection E3 to know the position of the switches and the common errors such as bad clipping, or something else.

for more, consult channel #ps3downgrade on EFNet's irc. if you don't know what irc is, google for it, too lazy to tell xD

Oh! I didn't realize that...thanks for clearing that up! I thought you had to solder it for everything, haha. And I MIGHT want dual booting since I have a friend I play with on PSN. (The dual boot is between CFW and OFW right?)

Again, thanks for clearing that up!

it would be cheaper for you to pay someone to downgrade for you, that way u dont pay for the overpriced tools.
